When I unwrapped this adapter, ordered with my 2nd Paragon mount at an Orion accessory sale, the thought popped into my head: why does this little adapter cost more than the standard Paragon L-adapter that it can swap out with? Then, a few minutes later I had this installed on a Paragon parallelogram mount and was ready to use it, instead of worrying about the value.
This adapter replaces the standard L-shaped bracket included with each Paragon. While the standard L-bracket is great for several binoculars (Scenix 50mm, and other 11x80 and 16x70) which all have ??-20 threads in the front of the binocular hinge, the standard bracket won???t work with 1) some big binoculars that have a center-post tripod adapter built in, or 2) binoculars that require a clamp-type tripod adapter installed around their hinge. I also found 3) that a pair of roof-prism binoculars needed a much narrower tripod adapter to fit their threaded hinge recess, so this accessory with a narrow 3rd party tripod adapter was required instead of the standard Paragon L-bracket.
This adapter matches the Paragon???s fit and finish and installs in a moment, so the price you pay is for convenience and appearance. It???s a good solution for many older 50mm Porro binoculars that use a hinge clamp, or the special situations mentioned above. Keep in mind that some larger binoculars shipped with a built-in center post tripod adapter (especially over 80mm) may be too heavy for the Paragon. If you plan to use a range of binoculars on your Paragon, you may need this little accessory.

Cons: a little pricey - but works
