This nifty Orion SteadyPix Universal Camera Mount holds virtually any digital or film camera up to the eyepiece of any telescope to capture images of the Moon, planets, bright deep-sky objects, or terrestrial subjects. SteadyPix locks the camera lens in position at just the right distance and orientation relative to the telescope eyepiece to achieve precise focus and centering of the image for afocal photography.

SteadyPix features all-metal construction for maximum rigidity. It attaches directly to any standard 1.25" telescope eyepiece with one of two felt-lined eyepiece clamps provided (for standard or large-size 1.25" eyepieces). The camera threads on to a 1/4"-20 pedestal via the threaded hole in the camera body. There are no additional parts to buy as with some other models. SteadyPix's three adjustment points let you position any brand of digital or 35mm camera close to the eyepiece for picture taking. Looking at the camera's viewscreen or through its viewfinder, you then focus the image and snap the shot!

Telescope eyepieces with long eye relief are recommended to minimize vignetting of images. Fits 1.25" eyepieces only.

Why not give through-the-telescope photography a try? The results may surprise you.

I have used the SteadyPix on all my telescopes. Realizing that this device is not a Mercedes Benz or BMW, and considering it's inherant limitations, the little bugger does just what it was designed to do. My snapshots are simple, but they're also prettygood!

with my small camera with a shorty barlow lens and a 1.25" 25mm eye piece, it is just a little too heavy for my XT8I. my solution is to tape a small counter weight or really tighten the bolt for the telescope. otherwise, it works really good. though, probably not the best for a intelliscope. you cant have more than a 1 second exposure without there being image blur

Sturdy Orion SteadyPix Mount

I'm one of the better afocal imagers out there (if not the best :^). I like and use two SteadyPix Camera Mounts (to switch between fat and skinny 1.25" EP's without taking off the clamp) and have been for several years. Initially I was concerned about the comments of others, and didn't like the necessary nut adjustments, but now I find it easy to adjust by hand (without wrench) with just a clockwise rotation of EP while holding nut with fingers (you can 'feel' when it's right.) Positives: Sturdy and doesn't flex when camera upright Cheaper than the other ones. Negatives: EP clamp felt came off early on. Camera better off upright relative to scope. I will buy more of these in the future.

Very flimsy. Can't handle weight of my small camera. Won't stay in position while moving scope.
