  • For those who commonly view the night sky from suburban or city skies, our Orion SkyGlow filters can significantly improve the quality of your observations
  • SkyGlow eyepiece filters enhances deep-sky observing in moderately light-polluted skies
  • Broadband filters block the most common wavelengths of light pollution for increased contrast and better views
  • A SkyGlow filter can improve your views of nebulas and galaxies, as well as open and globular star clusters
  • Available in either 1.25" or 2" sizes, compatible with properly sized Orion eyepieces featuring filter threads

Light pollution is waging war on amateur astronomy. Don't surrender - fight back with an Orion SkyGlow broadband telescope eyepiece filter! It's an advanced mutilayer "interference" filter that blocks the most common wavelengths of light pollution while allowing desirable wavelengths pass through with very little attenuation, yielding dramatically better deep-sky views. Orion SkyGlow telescope eyepiece filters feature improved blocking of mercury-vapor light (commonly used in streetlights) and higher transmission at critical hydrogen-alpha and hydrogen-beta lines compared to competing broadband filters. Bright, light-polluted skies appear much darker, and the contrast between object and sky is improved significantly when using an Orion SkyGlow filter. This contrast-enhancement effect is particularly apparent when observing nebulas with the help of a SkyGlow filter. Unlike stars, emission nebulas give off light in a very narrow range of wavelengths. SkyGlow filters allow maximum transmission of the important wavelengths of hydrogen-alpha, hydrogen-beta, and doubly ionized oxygen - the ones most commonly emitted by nebulas. Views of galaxies and star clusters are also enhanced, although not as much. Orion offers our SkyGlow filter in 1.25" and 2" sizes, for use with either 1.25" or 2" telescope eyepieces. Why suffer under light-polluted skies any longer? Order your SkyGlow light pollution filter today. They really work!
