The Orion 4-Filter Wheel for 1.25" Filters provides a convenient, affordable, and efficient way to use multiple filters when observing, or when capturing astrophotography exposures.

Dialing-in the eyepiece filter you want to view through is easy with the Orion 4-Filter Wheel - just rotate the knurled wheel with your fingertips to switch between installed filters without having to remove your eyepiece. The time-saving Filter Wheel accepts up to four 1.25” filters, or you can leave one wheel slot open for the option of an unfiltered view. Both deep-sky observers and planetary specialists will appreciate the ability to swap filters without removing the eyepiece. For example, deep-sky enthusiasts can alternate between O-III, H-beta, and UltraBlock filters to optimize views of “faint fuzzies.” Planetary observers will appreciate how easy it is to alternate between their most oft-used color filters for enhanced views.

For astrophotography pursuits, our 4-Filter Wheel makes it easy to capture exposures through different imaging filters. You can capture exposures of the same celestial object through 1.25” Luminance, Red, Green, and Blue (LRGB) filters or tri-color imaging filters without having to repeatedly remove and replace individual filters for each shot.

The Orion 4-Filter Wheel for 1.25” Filters is designed for use with 1.25” eyepieces or astrophotography cameras equipped with a 1.25” nosepiece. Requires an additional 20mm of back focus travel. Eyepiece and astrophotography filters sold separately.

I received my filter wheel yesterday, 2/29/2012. It is smaller than I expected, but still quite useable. In response to the previous reviewer, it is a bit wobbly, but that is easily fixed. I took a Teflon washer and inserted it on the bottom of the filter wheel so that the screw you remove to screw in the filters passes right through the washer and gives the filter wheel a snug fit. There is some play when you go to rotate the filter wheel, but that is to be expected. I bought mine as a second, so on the back side there are some dings and pits, but does not detract from the functional use of it. I would recommend this to anyone. I am purchasing a second one to use for color filters and the first one to use for nebula filters.
Favorite viewing location:??Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth, MA
Favorite object to observe:??Obscure planetary nebula and obscure globular clusters
Pros: light weight and fully functional
Cons: wobbly but easily fixed.
Yes, I recommend this product!

It may have just been the unit I received. The filter wheel rattled around inside the enclosure. It's not solid in the rotational axis, but worse it tilts up to about an eighth of an inch in the optical axis. That's bad. You don't want the light from the telescope zig-zagging along the optical path.
Favorite viewing location:??Amaragosa Valley
Favorite object to observe:??Nebulas in Orion
Cons: tilt in the optical axis, filter wheel rattles around
No, I do not recommend this product.
