The Orion 2" Precision Centering Extension Adapter allows you to accurately center any 2" eyepiece or accessory in a 2" telescope focuser. Most standard 2" focusers use a metal thumbscrew to secure an inserted eyepiece or accessory in place, which pushes the inserted barrel laterally, i.e., off-center. This can make observations less than ideal, and can reduce the usefulness of collimating tools. The Orion 2" Precision Centering Extension Adapter employs a nylon helical compression mechanism that precisely centers the inserted accessory as it is tightened in place. The adapter fits in all 2" focusers and will not scratch your inserted accessories with its nylon compression ring.

The Orion 2" Precision Centering Extension Adapter is especially useful for centering 2" eyepieces and imaging cameras on the center axis of a telescope’s light path. The adapter also provides 1.7" of extension which is often needed when a star diagonal is not used with refractor or cassgrain telescopes. It’s also ideal with reflector telescopes for critical centering of a collimating device.The Precision Centering Extension Adapter will securely house up to 1.3" of inserted 2" eyepiece barrels and accessories.

Made of machined, anodized aluminum with a knurled twist-lock ring, the Precision Centering Extension adapter adds 1.7" (43mm) of extension.
