Have you ever wanted to share the enjoyable view seen through your telescope with a few friends or family members? Well, now you can do just that with the innovative and affordable Orion StarShoot Video Eyepiece. Now you can easily view what you see in your telescope on your TV screen or camcorder! The Video eyepiece sends live images of the Moon, bright planets, Sun (solar filter required), and terrestrial subjects as seen through the telescope to a TV set, camcorder, or any other device with an RCA video input. Now the whole family, classroom, or astronomical society can enjoy the view right along with you, as if you were all looking through the same telescope.

The StarShoot Video eyepiece is compatible with any telescope equipped with a 1.25" focuser, or a 2" focuser with a 2"-to- 1.25" step-down adapter. While a telescope attached to a tracking motor-equipped mount will provide the best results for nighttime use, even non-motorized telescopes like Dobsonian reflectors work well with this petite performer. During daylight hours, the StarShoot Video Eyepiece can add crowd-pleasing performance to any telescope outfitted for terrestrial use. Telescopic views of birds, wildlife, and scenery can be seen and enjoyed on your TV screen.

This handy video "eyepiece" imager provides an inexpensive entry into the rewarding realm of astrophotography. The StarShoot Video Eyepiece features a CMOS sensor chip with 8-bit output and RGB 24-bit color resolution. The sensor’s small 9.2µm x 7.2µm pixel size accurately detects fine details. While not sensitive enough to capture images of faint deep space objects, the Video Eyepiece enables you to share telescopic views of brighter objects within our solar system like the Moon and brighter planets like Jupiter and Saturn. The view transmitted by the StarShoot Video Eyepiece is comparable to what you would see using a 5mm eyepiece.

The 1.25" nosepiece is threaded for use with any Orion 1.25" eyepiece filter, so you can enhance your view to your liking by using a Moon filter, light pollution filter, color planetary filters, and more (filters sold separately). You can also use our StarShoot 0.5x Focal Reducer (sold separately) if you’d like to view a wider area.

The StarShoot Video Eyepiece is powered by the included AC-to-DC adapter, which has a long 70" cable for convenient use with your telescope.

With an Orion StarShoot Video Eyepiece you can start enjoying the night sky and daytime terrestrial views through your TV!

The StarShoot Video Eyepiece is compatible with the National Television System Committee (NTSC) standard only, which is used throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America (excluding Brazil and Argentina), Burma, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Republic of the Philippines, and many Pacific island nations and territories.

NOTE: PAL version #52176 is also available from our network of International Authorized Orion Dealers. For US shipments only of the PAL version Orion StarShoot Video Eyepiece, you can also call 1-800-447-1001 and speak to an Orion Sales Representative for further assistance.

I???ve only had two products from Orion that I haven???t been happy with and this is one of them.
I know this is an entry level product but I either got a lemon or its stated capabilities are over rated. The only thing that can be viewed with it at night is the Moon (I???m using it on a 6in reflector). Jupiter is just a round ball with nothing discernible. At this time Saturn is not viewable, but if it can???t pull in Jupiter there is no way it will pull in Saturn. I had high hopes that this would perform better than the cheap webcam that I???ve been using but no luck there.
The best things I can say about it are (1) It does do a nice job on the Moon. (2) It works well during day time observations.
I sincerely suggest saving up your money and buy a better video eyepiece than this one, especially if you have any intentions of connecting it to a computer. The added cost of getting the Orion video capture device so it can be connected to a laptop is just more money than this product is worth.
No, I do not recommend this product.

this is great. you cant see thru this as an eyepiece but if you use a 15mm eyepiece which is very close to the correct focus, it can be swapped with this after the image is collected, then fine tune focus. i have found it much clearer and steady image than the usb one. i used a high quality gold plated 50 ' extension video and it did work with no image loss to connect my telescope outside to my inside tv. anything after 50 ' would work with a coupler but the image will show lines across the screen but not as bad. the image is still the same .i also used an electric extension cord for the ac adpt. great item. also you can record the images on a dvd recorder or a dvdr, connected to your tv.

Having gotten a few friends interested with the sights we can see. Got the camera so everyone can watch a tv and see whats going on.
The shots are nice and clear for what it is. The ability to add filters and the 2x eyepiece gives it some abilities to make seen missing to much.
The eyepiece fit find. and the only fight I had was trying to turn the camera to get the correct orientation. I ended up making a mark on the eyepiece and on the telescope to know the correct orientation of it.
minor con
The only con I have with the device is that when it has pure black. left the cap on the camera or left the dust shield on the telescope on. It wont render black. It will render static the output. This left to 30mins of testing cables that would be casing the static and not know it was because it was to dark for the camera.
