The first time I used them I saw everything double. The collimation was terrible. But I searched online how to collimate them and I did it in about 15 minutes. The optics, and therefore the images, are very good. The focus knob moves very easily, so I lose focus and have to refocus from time to time, but it's not a big deal for me. I think it's a good product for a first pair of binoculars. The only drawback was the collimation.
Pros: optics are good
Cons: collimation was bad
Yes, I recommend this product!

These binoculars are very good, I received them for Christmas. They are great for astronomy, the view through them of M42 rival my 6'' telescope and are much more portable. I highly recommend using a tripod. One thing is a bit annoying, when pointed at the zenith the focuser (although a very good one) slides down slowly, making it come out of focus and needs adjustment. The image is very nice at the center and going out, but becomes blurred at the edges. This is not noticeable very much during daytime use and for the price make excellent binos.
Pros: great price good quality
Cons: focuser comes out of focus at zenith
Yes, I recommend this product!

Having been using a pair of Celestron binocs lately, these pair of Orion binos feel cheaply made; in fact, they feel like a toy-store binoculars but with decent optics. Plastic/polymer tubes while making these pair light in weight, it also makes them susceptible to bangs and bumps (that will invariably happen). The optic components are good, not superb, but good enough to please most beginning astronomy enthusiasts.
Favorite viewing location:??Backyard
Favorite object to observe:??Nebulae
Pros: good optics, light weight
Cons: bad craftmanship, plastic
No, I do not recommend this product.

I got a Orion 15x70 Binocular for Christmas. I did not expect too much for the $, and decided on these which were fully multicoated. I figured that I could use the 15x70's for quick views and possibly forgo the use of a tripod.
Well last night I was pleasantly surprised with clear skies and 20 deg. F temps and a very good capable Binocular.
I swept up The Crab Nebula (M1# with no problem direct vision as a elliptical obvious hazy spot much easier than with my Orion 10x50 Ultraview binocular due to the 70mm aperture. On to M78 and vaguely #maybe# NGC 2071 as very faint nebula in Orion..............I had to check my charts to see if I was truly observing M78 and associate, which coincided. Interestingly the area around M78 could be seen as missing stars probably from the dark clouds associated with M78. I tried for The Witch Head Nebula #IC 2118# but did not have a finder chart for its exact location. M42/43,N1981 looked like a train wreck in the 15x70's !! I was observing laying on the driveway with the bino resting on my eyes for most of the faint deep sky observing to keep the jiggles to a minimum. The binocular can be used without a tripod for a short time, but on small faint objects you need something to steady your view.I could see the nebular components in both the Pleiades and the Rosette pretty easy.
I could not see the nebula of the Flaming Star#IC405#. M35 was nice but was unable to resolve its counterpart OC NGC 2158. Auriga was a real blast with M36,37,38 and not to mention the Cheshire Cat asterism with IC417 hanging off its mouth.
This morning I observed Saturn but really could not see the rings very well due to the Jiggles but they were evident.Mars looked like a red star pretty much. The crescent moon was nice but I did get indications of violet false color#Typical for an Achromat) and again a tripod would have made observing better. Please remember I have been observing for a while and some of the objects mentioned above probably would be invisible to a new observer.
I consider the Orion 15x70s very good and would suggest them to anyone.
Yes, I recommend this product!
