With the binoculars I received, the chromatic aberration (color fringes) of the optics were very pronounced. Looking at the Moon (or anything bright) I saw an electric yellow band of color around the edge. It was especially bad looking at Jupiter. I thought I was seeing double. Looking through a Short-Tube 80 at the same magnification--no discernible fringe.
Favorite viewing location:??Front porch
Favorite object to observe:??Moon
Pros: good price
Cons: chromatic aberration too distracting
No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought these binoculars to use when I want to view the night sky when I go backpacking and when I just want some quick views of DSO's at home. Fortunately, I live in a town with very, very little light pollution, and when I need to, a national park with even more clear skies is just 15 minutes away. With these 20x80 binocs in my clear skies, I have managed to hunt down nearly 80 of the Messier objects. The Andromeda Galaxy and its companions fit completely inside the field of view-- a dark lane was visible with averted vision, I even made out the a subtle amount of spiral structure in M51. The moons of Jupiter are easily visible as well as the rings of Saturn and its moon Titan. If the skies are clear and steady enough, Rhea and sometimes even Tethys can be spotted. Besides astronomy, these binoculars are great for views of the outdoors. I use them for getting better, closer views of birds and big game animals, I also enjoy exploring the face of mountain ranges with these from a distance. However, in order to get the best experience from the binoculars, a tripod is HIGHLY recommended. Without a tripod, your hands will get shaky and tired from holding them.

The Orion 20 X 80 is a excellent choice for the beginner and the armature. Its has a little star flare around the edges but overall viewing is outstanding and well worth the price. ( You will need a Bino mount tho ) Enjoy !! I am ...

My grandmother just ordered these received them last week. I got a chance to look through them yesterday. After using these I know I'm gonna have to order a pair for myself !! The case that comes with the Orion 20x80's is top of the line. Everything about them is nice including the tripod adapter. It was super easy to set up . In the late afternoon we were trying to focus them on some far away tree tops in the west and I saw a light in the sky. I focused the bino's and couldn't believe I was looking at Saturn! It was still day light ! You could see the rings. It was beautiful. If you can't afford a telescope get these 20x80 bino's and a decent tripod . Binoculars are a great way to start Astronomy. Great for scanning the sky and easy to set up and take with you everywhere. I can't wait to get a chance to use these again. ENJOY !!!
Favorite viewing location:??Dark wide open spaces when possible but mostly end up in the back yard.
Favorite object to observe:??Orion Nebula, Pleiades , Jupiter , Saturn, All star clusters
