Orion gets requests all the time from serious amateur astronomers asking what binocular we'd recommend for wide-field stargazing. Well, from now on our answer will be "Resolux"! They're our new favorite astro binoculars (and equally superb for long-distance daytime viewing), combining high-resolution, flat-field optics with mechanical construction that meets the U.S. military spec for ruggedness and the strict JTII spec for collimation. They are fully waterproof, and nitrogen purged to prevent internal lens fogging. And all this for a very reasonable price.

With this Resolux 10.5x70 binocular, you'll enjoy performance that you simply won't find in other binoculars. Your first scan of the Milky Way will prove it — pinpoint stars set in bold contrast against the dark background. Gorgeous! The extra-large BAK-4 prisms and advanced multi-coatings on all optical surfaces really drink in the light. The eyepieces focus individually, which yields a sturdier mechanical design than a center-focus mechanism. And with 23mm of eye relief, even eyeglass wearers will see the full field of view.

This Resolux's all-metal housing is armored with thick rubber to ensure a secure, comfortable grip. Each binocular comes with lens caps, heavy-duty tripod adapter, and neck strap. This binocular comes with a foam-lined hard case.

I use the binoculars in a hand-held fashion. They are heavy and high power (10x), wide angle(70mm), but nonetheless very stable, and capable of observing faint objects (down to 8.5m). the performance is as good as my Orion 4-inch short-tube refractor, which has been a great performer over many years.
Favorite viewing location:??House deck
Favorite object to observe:??Faint high-altitude satellites
Pros: very stable when hand-held
Cons: neck-strap ends could be more substantive
Yes, I recommend this product!

I bought these binoculasr to replace my old set that is 26 year old. The new Orion's are much easier to use. A one time focus set up and your done. No more having to foucs each time you pick up a set of binoculars. Focusing was fast and easy. These are a little heavier but I don't have any trouble finging and following satellites. I was able to see Venus in the day time. Seen four of Jupiter's moons. Im sure these binoculars will last me a long itme.
Favorite viewing location:??My back yard
Favorite object to observe:??Any Satellites and M42
Pros: great light gathering
Cons: just a little heavy
Yes, I recommend this product!
