Celestron’s innovative new EdgeHD telescopes are aplanatic Schmidt Cassegrain models designed to produce aberration-free images across a wide visual and photographic field of view. The Edge HD optical system was designed not only to reduce more than just off-axis star coma, but also provide an astrograph-quality flat focal plane all the way to the edge of the field of view. This Celestron CPC Deluxe 800 HD features an 8" aperture aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope optical tube supported by the stalwart Celestron CPC computerized dual-fork arm mount.

Celestron EdgeHD optics produce a focal plane more than three-times flatter than a standard Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. This guarantees you visibly sharp stars across some of the largest CCD chips available today for astrophotography.

Superior edge performance not only creates rounder, more pleasing stars in astrophotos, but actually improves the resolution and limiting magnitude when compared to telescopes of equal aperture. With Celestron’s High Definition optics you will be able to capture the faintest of galaxies all the way to the corner of your full frame camera chip. Coupled with Celestron’s XLT coating group on every surface, EdgeHD optics gives you maximum light throughput across the widest visual and photographic spectrum.

The Celestron CPC telescope mount’s internal Global Positioning System (GPS) system and revolutionary new SkyAlign technology make quick work of initial alignment for computerized operation. The GPS system automatically downloads date and time information from orbiting satellites and pinpoints the telescope’s location on Earth. This eliminates the need for you to manually enter the date, time, longitude, and latitude, significantly expediting the alignment process. With SkyAlign, you just aim the telescope at any three bright stars or planets in the sky - you don’t even have to know their names! Then - presto! - the CPC Deluxe 800 HD telescope is oriented and ready to take you wherever you want to go.

Convenient user-definable filter limits make navigating through the expansive object database fast and easy. Filter Limits let you filter out objects that are outside of your local horizon (i.e., if trees or mountains are in the way). A useful “Identify” feature tells you what you’re looking at through the telescope, but it can also be a very fun way to tour around the sky. Just point the telescope up at the starry sky and ask it to identify Messier objects (for instance) and it will show you the 5 nearest M objects to your position and let you go to them. You can keep doing this for different parts of the sky or for different object types for hours of educational entertainment.

The included newly designed tripod has heavy-duty stainless steel legs and a spreader bar for excellent rigidity. Other features include periodic error correction (PEC), an autoguider port, and input for 12-volt power. Telescope weighs 43 lbs. fully assembled. Two-year limited warranty.
