Upgrade your standard SkyView Pro telescope with a computerized GoTo system that automatically locates and tracks more than 42,900 targets with pushbutton ease. The convenient GoTo hand controller features intuitive menus for easy target acquisition. Dual stepper motors slew the telescope at 3.4-deg per second to center your target in the eyepiece. The kit installs easily and requires no modification to the telescope mount. Includes two motors, motor control box, and hand controller. Requires a 12-volt DC power source or an AC power adapter (both sold separately). Please note that SkyView Pro telescope mounts purchased before mid-2004 are not upgradeable.

Installing the GoTo kit for SkyView Pro EQ Mount

When I originally ordered my SkyView Pro GoTo EQ Mount, I thought that it was shipped fully assembled. However, I found that when I received the packages (I also ordered the carrying case and Polar Scope), that I had to install the kit as well. Needlessto say, installing the kit went relatively quickly and I was able to check the ability of slewing in both directions "at speed". Only issue is that the documentation makes comment about a tube of grease being included for the gears, but I did not find any. I'll be contacting customer support to see if they can ship me the grease.

I installed the motors in my Vixen GP mount. I have probed some other motors but the pointing accuracy was very poor. When I installed the motors the problems ended and to my surprise the noise too ! Other motors are very noisy but Orion's are not.
The kit is not cheap but is a good option for what I needed.

Favorite object to observe:??Omega Centauri
Pros: easy installation, quiet motors, great precision

First thing I noticed on this Go-To kit were the gears. I knew with these gears having more teeth over the existing product was going to yield more precise results. The installation took some time to break down the existing dual axis drive and then install this set. The quality appears a lot better than my existing set. Once it was all done, I powered it up and set up with my new "Awesome Auto-Guider Package". I dialed in Polaris through my Polaris scope and went locating the star "Antares" to guide my telescope to the Lagoon Nebula. After long exposures, and constantly checking the pictures, the telescope stayed centered in the bulls eye. Great Product.

The GoTo worked great for 6 months till one of the motors went out. So I sent it into customer service to get it fixed and I suppose they just sent me back the same one, because I kept having the same problem. Wonderful tracking though. I have to wonderif they sell individual motors cheap somewhere though.
