Most dovetail plates will only fit rings at predetermined spacings, because there are only a small number of holes tapped into them. With Orion's new narrow universal dovetail plate, you have more holes, more options and far more versatility.

If your optical tube has rings that may not fit the hole spacing of standard dovetail bars, Orion's narrow universal plate is the answer. It has many holes spaced along its length so any possible ring spacing that you need is available. We've also added two slots for extra versatility in the spacing combinations. Cameras and other accessories with tripod sockets can easily attach to this narrow dovetail plate, wherever you need to place them.

With our universal dovetail plate, you'll have a secure connection and perfect placement — no matter what tube you're using to explore the universe!

Obtained the bar to provide stable platform for auto guider. Bar is 13" inches. The 2 threaded holes in the center are 6mm. There are enough options in the precut holes to attach about anything you would like. I like the fit and finish of the bar. Doesn't feel cheap. Picture submitted is bar mounted on my Orion 190mm Mak-Newt.

This mounting plate has worked well for me. I needed a way to mount my Orion 80mm short tube to a photo tripod that I had & it has worked well.
Favorite viewing location:??The 3 Rivers Foundation's astronomy campus near Crowell, Texas
Favorite object to observe:??All deep sky objects starting with observing double stars with binos to Arp Galaxies with large Dobs.
Pros: matched up well to existing equipment
Cons: it is a little heavier than i would like

This dovetail plate is constructed of quality material and is well machined and finished. I bought it for a construction project involving my auto-guider. The aluminum is tough. It took a long time to hand cut with a hack saw :-) to make the piece I needed. Two of the four holes in the center are threaded. They look like, but are not 1/4 - 20. Must be the closest metric equivalent. The bottom of the slotted cutouts (not visible in the pics) are nicely counter sunk.
