As soon as I got these rings I knew I would need better ones, they are poorly made and I did not trust them to hold the 80mm refractor guidescope, the only reason I put 4 stars for value is for the whole package you get with the rings but as for them I DID NOT LIKE THEM
Favorite viewing location:??My backyard
Favorite object to observe:??Jupiter/Saturn/Nebulas
Pros: they come with a great package
Cons: very cheaply made, overall bad design
No, I do not recommend this product.

I got these rings for a cheap~y guidescope project made from an ancient 60mm Meade "Christmas trash telescope" I found a thrift shop one day.
The rings themselves are great, solid machined aluminum, with a tough black texturized coating, but I found the included stock nylon thumbscrews to be ENTIRELY unsuitable for my intended purpose.
The stock screws' minimum diameter tolerance is 80mm (even then, based on other reviews, just barely), and as seeing that I only have a 60mm scope to work with; a trip to the hardware store is in order.
When I was there, I was surprised to find that the screws are, in fact; METRIC.
Specifically: 6mm-30.
So, after shuffling down to the "metric ghetto" cabinet, I dug out three pairs of "6mm-30 1inch (25mm) socket head cap screws" (and some 1/4" soft caps to prevent marring), brought them home, installed them in place of the stock screws, and they work PERFECTLY with my little thrift-store scope.
I'm quite happy with the result.
Favorite object to observe:??Pleiades-M45
Pros: great rings; absolutely the best for the price.
Cons: terrible stock screws; too short.
Yes, I recommend this product!
