This specialized dovetail mounting base fits factory drilled holes on most Meade, Celestron, and Orion Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, allowing you to add a high-quality Orion aiming device for enhanced performance under the stars. Oval-shaped mounting holes make this dovetail base compatible with a wide variety of SCT telescopes. The dovetail base accepts the bracket of all Orion finder scopes and Orion EZ Finder reflex sights. A large knurled thumbscrew makes it easy to install and detach your Orion finder scope or reflex sight, even while wearing gloves.

I replaced my Meade finder with an Orion 9x50 Illuminated Right-Angle finder and I used this base to mount on my 10" SCT. It worked perfect with no fuss.
Pros: solid construction
Cons: none

The finder scope base was advertiized as fitting Meade telescopes. I have a Meade 8 inch LS ACF scope. The two screw holes are verticle so I had to drill two holes in the base and get longer screws to make the base fit. After that- no problem, the scope works great and the mount modification I now have no problem. Its a heck of a lot easer to line up stars with the finder scope ( with a diagonal) than trying to line up stars with a red dot finder with tinted glass and no diagonal thus forcing you to al,most stand on your head for overhead stars..

I am using this mount on a Celestron Nexstar 8SE and it fits the tube just fine. I'm using it with the laser mount and am very happy with the setup.
