The sky align feature makes this telescope so easy to use. I picked three random stars to align the scope. The controller calibrated my location. Within minutes I was looking at Jupiter and its moons. Amazing!!

This scope is just what we need now. Wife and I have graduated from a beginner refractor scope and have a dark enough sky for good observation. We bought this scope as a common Christmas present for ourselves and have a few nights of clear skies coming to really put it through its paces. My early trials with it have proven that the AC power adapter is a must. On these cold nights, the internal batteries just don't last very long once it starts tracking. My initial observations of the Pleiades, Jupiter, and Sirius were just what I have been wanting. The optics provide a good clear view and I can't wait to purchase a few accessories to further enhance our viewing experience.
Favorite viewing location:??My driveway
Favorite object to observe:??Jupiter
Pros: great optics, lightweight, great price, easy set-up
Cons: needs ac adaptor
Yes, I recommend this product!

For over 20 years, I have owned a Meade 8" SCT, and loved it. The only issue I had was that it was taking up a bit of room in the house, it was a bit bulky to bring in & out of the house, and I was also getting the itch to own a "Goto" scope.... All this resulted in me not using the 8" as much as I used to....SO, after some debate, I sold the 8" Meade, and ordered the Nexstar 6SE. Seemed like a nice "Happy Medium" between size, features, price, and portability. And I'm happy to report...NO REGRETS!
This scope is VERY EASY to use, setup, and operate. You can literally be up & running within a few short minutes of assembling the scope. After the scope is assembled (which only takes 4-5 minutes, max!), plug in some power, setup the hand controller, line-up 3 stars, and BLAMMO! You're good ta' go!
Initially, I was worried about the 6" size, because I was so used to my 8" for over 20yrs, that I would be making a mistake in buying this, but, turns out, I like it, and I'm not unhappy, at all. The views are not that much different from my 8" SCT.
I'm all about getting the best bang-for-my-buck, and I think this scope truly delivers on that.
My only "minor" complaint is the tripod. While the tripod itself is decent, and fairly sturdy, it will wobble a bit when the legs are fully extended. So, I simply keep the legs all the way in, which drastically reduces vibration, and makes it the perfect height for me to sit on an adjustable drummer's stool, and comfortable enjoy the views through the EP. Also, keeping the legs as short as possible, really makes a difference when I have my DSLR hooked up to the scope, for AP.
Overall, optical quality is very good, you have an adjustable tripod, it has goto, you can do some short-exposure astrophotography with it, it's very easy to use & operate, AND it's quite portable.
For over 27yrs at this hobby, I've owned a bunch of gear, and had quite a few scopes...And I can honestly say that this was a great purchase, it's a very good quality scope, and packed with some nice features...What more could you ask for? Many Thanks to Celestron for making a nice product!
PS: You can certainly use Batteries to power this scope, which will yield maybe an hour of use (or less, depending on what you're doing with the scope), BUT, take my advice, pick up the AC Adapter, or a Power Tank type of unit. You'll thank me for it.
Favorite viewing location:??Backyard
Favorite object to observe:??The Sun (with my Coronado Scope), Galaxies & Nebulae
Pros: everything
Yes, I recommend this product!

I have had the 6SE for about 3 months now and have had many nights of enjoyable viewing from my backyard. I have found no need to collimate. The scope arrived well packed and the optics were right on straight out of the box. This is a wonderful grab andgo scope and the GoTo electronics can show you many great sky objects in short order. I found the use menu setup easy to use and intuitive. The mount and tripod is adequate for visual use. Two small problems arose. A small defect in the lens coating on the supplied Celestron eyepiece required replacement. And I had to glue one of the feet on the tripod back on when it popped off while pulling out one of the legs for full extension. Easily repaired here. No focus shift, sharp star images - no regrets on this purchase from Orion.
