Can I see the crators on the moon up close.
The great thing about astronomy is just about any telescope can view the moon in amazing detail. The crators of the moon are very visible and the moon is a great target for this telescope. Even Jupiter with its moons and Saturn and its ring structure are all very visible in this telescope.
Can the Celestron Power seeker be connected to our home computer?
Not likely. The Celestron PowerSeeker series telescopes are an entry-level telescope that is great for beginners getting started in astronomy. For connection to a computer - you would want to look for telescopes featuring GoTo technology - many of them offer software packages that will allow you to connect directly to your computer. Check out the Celestron NexStar SE series telescopes - they include the cables and software for connection to a PC.
Can you connect this to a pc in any way?
The Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ is completely unautomated and cannot connect to a PC in any way. It does come with tutorial software on how to use your new telescope and some basic tips.
Could this scope be mounted on a smaller tripod. I am looking for a nice beginner table-top sit down scope to look out an open 2nd story window and show my son the moon and planets.
Unfortunately, the Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ Reflecting Telescope cannot be mounted on a tabletop tripod.
Does this telescope come with a tripod? Is this a good choice for viewing planets (i.e. good enough to get good pictures of Saturn?s rings)?
The Celestron PowerSeeker 127 DOES come with a tripod. You should be able to get fairly nice, short-exposure photos of Saturn's rings through a short-focal-length eyepiece, using a digital camera. You'll need an adapter, though. Zhumell makes a good one, the Universal Digital Camera Adapter (small).
I am a first-time telescope buyer and am not sure if I want to purchase this scope or the Celestron Starhopper 6in Dobsonian. Is the extra $100 really worth the improved quality of the Dobsonian? Which would you recommend?
The PowerSeeker 127 EQ is a good beginner's scope. However, the 6-inch aperture of the Starhopper will give you brighter, crisper views. It's worth the extra money.
I was wondering if I can equip the "Celestron Motor Drive for AstroMaster/PowerSeeker EQ Telescopes" with this telescope (Celestron PowerSeeker 127 EQ Telescope)?
Sure can! The motor drive is a fantastic accessory for this telescope. The motor drive will allow you to automatically track objects in the sky. No more will you need to constantly adjust the mount to keep objects in your field of view. The motor drive will do that for you - a simple upgrade that can make a big difference in your telescope
Is their a solar filter for this telescope?
The Solar Filter for C5, N5, etc., should fit and work just fine.
What is the size of the star diagonal in this scope Is the star diagonal included
This telescope does not come with a star diagonal. It will accept any 1.25inch diagonal.
Will I be able to experience decent views of nebulae and galaxies with this scope? Is there a motor drive available?
Yes, with the Powerseeker 127EQ you will be able to see many nebulae and galaxies. There is no motor drive available, however.
Will the images in this telescope be upside down?
Yes. As the Celestron PowerSeeker 127 EQ Telescope is a reflective telescope, it will project images upside down.
Would I be able to view from inside our home? Our windows are double glazed and also tinted.
Yes, you would be able to use the Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ telescope to some degree inside your home. Bear in mind, though, that magnification magnifies EVERYTHING, including imperfections in window glass. That means you?ll want to use lower magnification levels inside.
