I got the teletrack last week and I was lucky enough to buy before the sale ended, however, I would easily pay $300 for it. I somehow broke the curse and got 3 consecutive nights of clear skies after I got this. When I first got it I read the manual forabout 10 minutes (which is a decent manual) and then decided I'd try to set it up. Out of the box setup was very easy. It only took a few minutes to get it out and get my 90mm mak onto it. When I got it outside I leveled it then did a two star alignment on polaris and betelgeuse. First test was m43... right on target. Then saturn, pleiades, christmas tree, and a couple other messier and caldwell and ngc objects. All of them were in the field of view either right in the middle or just a couple minutes off center. The tripod is decent, sturdier than I though it might be. Tracking is very good, I didn't spend more than a couple minutes on most objects however I did not see any movement at all. Where usually they would be out of view in about 30 seconds. Overall, its a fantastic goto mount for small scopes, perfect from horizon to zenith. I would absolutely buy this again.

Simple, low cost intro to goto scopes if you have something suitable to put on it already. I attached a 16x80 rt/angle finder to the L bracket. All pretty easy to setup and use.
However, when I first setup, I placed the scope such that the dovetail lock knob was towards the sky. This didn't work at all! The unit would "successfully align", but on trying to find an object it would be 30 deg off or more! I then flipped the scope around 180 /dovetail lock knob towards eyepeice/, and then it worked fine /note a previous user had same comment/issue/. The manual needs an update on this. Additionally, the unit could be shipped with the dovetail lock knob already at a 45deg angle so there is only one way to mount the L bracket with scope looking upward. I received the unit with the dovetail lock knob directly up, so it was ambiguous which way to mount the L bracket.
After "successful alignment", I still found the unit was not very accurately hitting objects. I may have had the 16x80 perhaps slightly off true on the L bracket, but with a 3+ deg field, I was expecting better. Perhaps mounting directly on the dovetail base without the L bracket will be better. Next time I'll try the PAE too.
A few suggestions. It would be really nice if Venus, Jupiter, the Moon /and the Sun/ would be included in the star alignment list. Given those objects, one could achieve alignment Much earlier in the evening. I understand the issues with including the sun, perhaps just allow a User Object in the alignment list. I'd like to use the unit to find Jupiter and Venus in the daytime. The advanced user could enter a User Object with the RA/DEC of the sun, then align to Polaris /with compass and protractor/, and to the sun /by shadow or protected scope of course!/.
Pros: simple effective, computer interface (although rs232), large database, standard 12v power, gps interface option
Cons: only 50-50 chance of correct initial setup
Yes, I recommend this product!

I purchased this drive to use with my 20x100 binoculars for quick observations and as my travel "companion." I have a dedicated observatory in my backyard with a 12" Meade SCT that is sometimes a bit of overkill to view something better viewed through binoculars. The mount is advertised to work with scopes up to 10 pounds. My large binocs are exactly 10 pounds and - to put is simply - not a chance. Not even close. I've now purchased a pair of Orion 20x80 binocs at 5.6 pounds. Haven't received them yet but stay tuned. I'll be back.
Favorite viewing location:??Cherry Springs State Park, Pennsylvania
Favorite object to observe:??Orion Nebula
Pros: very light weight, could be a good travel mount
Cons: very limited on weight capacity, leveling is a real pain
No, I do not recommend this product.

This product is not usable for solar tracking

I recently bought this product to try and use it for solar tracking. It was advertised to have a solar tracking rate, which it does. However, it is impossible to align it during the day. Initially it seemed to be a perfect answer for me to use in solar eclipse viewing. It is light weight and can be easily carried on an airplane. This product is not usable for this purpose.
