Aiming a telescope is a joy when using the Orion 9x50 Illuminated Right-Angle CI Finder Scope thanks to its easy-to-see crosshairs, big 50mm aperture, correct-image view and comfortable right-angle design.

While many finder scopes employ black crosshairs which are difficult at best to see against a night sky background, this deluxe model of ours features an adjustable-brightness red LED illuminator so the double crosshairs can be seen easily at night for efficient centering of celestial targets in a telescope.

The comfortable right-angle orientation of the finder scope eye lens eliminates the need to contort your neck and back around your telescope while aiming. The Orion 9x50 Illuminated Right-Angle CI Finder Scope is particularly useful for those who stargaze with a Dobsonian reflector telescope, since using a straight-through finder to aim a Dobsonian can be difficult. The finder’s correct-image view makes it easy to point your telescope accurately, since the view in the finder scope will have the same orientation as the unaided eye.

With moderate 9x power magnification and a wide 5° field of view, the fully coated Orion 9x50 Illuminated Right-Angle CI Finder Scope gives scale to small celestial objects as they pop out with a surprising amount of bright detail.

The included finder bracket features a standard Orion dovetail foot and employs our popular spring-loaded X-Y adjustment design for simple calibration with any Orion telescope.

This is built like a tank and a little heavy but the quality is good. I had a couple of issues. 1) the flocking used inside the tube had a very strong, unpleasant odor. 2) the cross-hairs were not precisely at the focus of the ocular. This caused shifting of the cross-hairs when moving the head during alignment. I decided to take it apart and reposition the cross-hairs; turning the assembly inside the ocular until focus was achieved and it's now perfect.

Cons: cross-hairs not focused

This is a beautifully constructed finder scope. Sturdy and with excellent optical quality.
The base is sturdy and was very easy to plugin it in my Celestron PowerSeeker 80EQ reflector.
The finder scope tube is sturdy, and easy to adjust for focus if you ever need to do a focus adjustment on first use, and offer a very clear and wide view of the section of the sky you are observing.
The diagonal is also sturdy and excellent quality and a blessing for use the finder easily, no more breaking your neck trying to look through straight finder eyepieces.
The adjustment knobs for collimation feels right and I got the job done in a snap, I was pleased on how easy and quick I got the finder scope aligned with the main telescope.
The laser illuminated cross hair works very well and the laser intensity can be graduated. Regarding the laser on-off and dimmer button, the switch felt a little weak to me, I heard a little sound probably from a spring every time I turned it off, I just hope it last over long use, but it works well and again it was just a 'feeling' I had.
Compared to other products I've seen, the quality and price combination makes this product a winner.
My final comment: if you don't have a right angle scope, do your self a favor and get this one, you will be glad you did.

This is an easy to use, perfectly adequate finder with the added benefit of having an illuminated reticle to find exact center, or watch drift. However, I found that the reticle could not be dimmed quite enough for my liking. Also, there is no separate focus adjustment for the reticle and one must wear their glasses to keep the reticle in focus. I have glasses but, I normally observe without them.
My illuminated reticle eyepiece does allow for the focusing of the reticle and this would be a good feature for this finder.

Cons: no reticle focus

I just purchased the 9x50 RT. angle view finder and wow. I don't have to strain my neck and body to align my telescope any more. The illuminated cross hairs are great to get that star or planet dead in. The view thru the finder is sharp and crisp. While the adjustable brightness is a must have. I would rate this product a 5 all around
Pros: adjustabll focus, adjustable brightness, ease of installation
Cons: can't use different power eyepiecs
Yes, I recommend this product!
