So far, I like my dob xx14i just really learning what I can really do with it ... Quite a leap for my first telescope, but thats ok, really love learning what it can do. However, not so thrilled about the electronic star finder though, very hard to read on a cold night cause of the lcd read out. looking forward to braking it down and taking it to Lake Michigan camping this summer for those real dark starry nights this summer.. so stay tuned ..Ron54
Favorite viewing location:??Back yard on a hill in michigan

Build a Scope is the only way to go for the XX14i. I had a Galileo reflector years ago and wanted to get into star gazing again. After reading lots of telescope reviews/forums I came across one where someone said get the largest aperture you can afford and get the extras later as you go. I knew I wanted a large dob and I knew I wanted an Orion. I was able to choose a right angle 9x50 finder instead of the straight neck killer and I selected an eyepiece/filter kit all for hundreds less than the standard XX14i. As far as the telescope itself the XX14i is amazing. I'm 62 and its close to my limit but I can carry it to the deck in 2 pieces- the assembled mount and the scope. And the views are as advertised.
Favorite viewing location:??My deck.
Favorite object to observe:??planets and galaxies
