With the IntelliScope Computerized Object Locator, locating and viewing even the most elusive deep-sky curiosities becomes a "no brainer." Just select an object to view from the controller's 14,000-object database. High-resolution, 9,216-step digital encoders integrated in the telescope then pinpoint the object and guide the telescope right to it. Choose from dozens of additional menu options, including tours of the best deep-sky gems each month and identification of any object in the field of view. Oh, so that's the Cat's Paw Nebula!
The Build-A-Scope 10" IntelliScope Dobsonian Telescope features an expertly figured 10" (254mm) parabolic mirror (1200mm focal length, f/4.7). It gathers 56% more light than an 8" mirror, reaching stars as faint as magnitude 15. The steel optical tube is now finished in deep bronze metallic enamel and is equipped with a navigation knob for easy slewing.
We've streamlined the rock-stable Dobsonian Telescope base and upgraded it with a springless CorrecTension system that ensures even better manual tracking control and tube balance. Bearings molded from ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene and non-stick PTFE material provide silky smooth motion of the telescope on both axes. A 2"/1.25" eyepiece rack and new, ergonomic carry handle come standard.
With the Build-A-Scope 10" IntelliScope Dobsonian from Orion, you decide which finder scope, focuser, and eyepiece comes with the telescope. You can choose between magnified achromatic finder scopes, red-dot reflex sights, or more deluxe right-angle correct-image or illuminated crosshair finder scope models to be included with the SkyQuest XT10i IntelliScope Dobsonian. Next, select which focuser you want to be included with the telescope, choosing between smooth-adjusting Crayford designs with or without dual-speed fine focus control. You also get to select which telescope eyepiece is included from Orion's wide selection of quality oculars. Choose from low focal length, high magnification eyepieces, or go after the bigger picture with a wide-angle eyepiece to view a large swath of sky through the telescope.
