Although perfect for beginning stargazers, this tabletop reflector telescope is not a toy! With its substantial, 100mm aperture parabolic primary mirror boasting a 400mm focal length, the compact Orion StarSeeker 100mm TableTop Reflector telescope will amaze you and your family with gorgeous, detailed views of the night sky.

With this capable reflector, you can study the Moon’s cratered surface in detail, exploring highland mountains and vast, planar lunar “seas” of dark material. Bright planets like Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars shine bright in the SkyScanner 100mm Reflector, even when viewing from urban locations with mediocre seeing conditions. On especially clear evenings when viewing from areas with dark skies, the pint-sized Orion SkyScanner telescope can gather enough light for views of open and globular star clusters, bright cloudy nebulas, and even a few distant galaxies.

The SkyScanner includes two 1.25" eyepieces for magnification variety right out of the box. The included 20mm eyepiece provides moderate 20x power magnification, while the 10mm eyepiece boosts the view up to 40x power for higher magnification observations. Both eyepieces accept 1.25" Orion eyepiece filters (sold separately) so you can enhance views easily with specialty filters. An included Orion EZ Finder II reflex sight makes aiming the SkyScanner nice and “EZ.” After a simple alignment procedure, simply place the EZ Finder II’s red-dot on top of the area or object you want to see, and it will appear in the reflector telescope’s field of view.

The Orion SkyScanner 100mm TableTop Reflector is just the right size – large enough to see night sky objects yet compact enough to sit on a desk. Thanks to its small stature, the SkyScanner is a great grab-and-go telescope for visual adventures as close as the backyard table, or as far as your favorite remote dark sky site. More experienced amateur astronomers can use the easily portable SkyScanner 100mm Reflector as a quick-draw alternative to more complicated setups.

If there isn’t a table nearby when you want to use the SkyScanner 100mm TableTop Reflector telescope, you can easily attach its wooden altazimuth base to a field tripod. There is a threaded socket on the bottom of the telescope’s base so it can be coupled to a field tripod equipped with a 3/8” threaded post. A small 3/8”-to-1/4”-20 bushing is also included if you wish to attach the SkyScanner to a tripod featuring a 1/4”-20 threaded post. Alternatively, the SkyScanner 100mm Reflector optical tube can be separated from its base for attachment to any narrow-format dovetail saddle found on most Orion equatorial (EQ) and altazimuth mounts and tripods.

An amazing telescope value at an affordable price, the Orion SkyScanner 100mm TableTop Reflector is an ideal beginner’s telescope capable of providing hours of family fun exploring the cosmos.

First Scope, 5 Stars

I've attended a few star parties and been shopping for a starter scope for almost 6 months. After doing much research I learned that this scope is best bang for the buck. low focal ratio is a good thing. Lightweight, and super easy set-up. I would have given it a 4 star for being back ordered for over a month, but I wasn't charged for it until it was shipped, I was notified and easy tracking through UPS, and I received my scope a week earlier than expected and just 2 days after I was charged for it! Great Product, will buy filters and stronger lenses from orion in the near future.

like others have mentioned this is a great scope. im not an expert but for the beginner this will not disappoint. the package arrived on time and was super easy to setup. five minutes after opening the package i was outside with a bar stool aiming at the moon. i started out with the 20mm eyepiece and was amazed at the detail. i could make out great detail on the surface and the craters looked so amazing. i then tried the 10mm
eyepiece and it was even better. don't even bother buying dept store scopes, this is pure quality and you can tell just by looking at it. i found saturn by using the redshift app on my iphone and after using the easy finder II i could make out the planets shape with the rings and all. i was amazed, this was the first time i've ever seen saturn through a telescope. next, i tried the 2x barlow shorty and it didn't really seem to double the power but definitely made a noticeable difference. the rings on saturn were now more defined. the great thing about this scope is that it's light weight and ultra portable. i took it to a friends house the next night and the party went from drinking to stargazing, they were amazed and in awe. again, this is the perfect first telescope. i look forward to taking it out to the country to look at nebulas and other deep sky objects.

I purchased this telescope for my daughter's 7th birthday. I wasn't sure how long her interest in astronomy would last, so I didn't want to spend too much but I also wanted to get something that would actually be worth owning. This telescope didn't disappoint. My kids ooh'd and aah'd over pretty much everything I pointed it at. After a quick calibration, the viewfinder made directing it almost embarrasingly easy. I anticipate getting a lot of use out of this telescope.
Favorite viewing location:??My backyard
Pros: can be used right out of the box, viewfinder makes directing the scope very simple, very smooth motion, excellent value

Excellent! A nice little scope that's easy to set-up, easy to use and easy to move around. One thing I really like is how I can remove the scope from its tabletop base and mount it on a camera tripod. I'm a tall guy so this works out really nice for me. The Easy Finder sight isn't all that bad, but it is a little difficult to use on the tabletop base when trying to sight something high in the sky. I changed mine out with the Black 6x30 Right Angle finder and a Dove-Tail base sold here. Just need to use a 4mm drill bit to open up the existing holes a little bit. I did this with a hand tap while the scope was pointed at the floor on the camera tripod so no metal shavings (or hardware) fell back onto the primary mirror. The 6x30 finder is excellent and very easy to adjust; a real nice upgrade for the SkyScanner that I would recommend. The right angle puts the sight right above the eyepiece which makes sighting and viewing much more fluid. This also enhances the viewing experience, in my opinion.
The eyepieces that come with the scope are decent. I've since added the Orion Sirius Plossi 12.5mm and 7.5mm eyepieces to my collection. Jupiter looks really good through the 7.5mm and with it, I can make out at least 4 cloud bands on the planet. I've also used a Euro brand (Omegon) 4mm Plossi which I believe is about the limit. The view with the 4mm was alright, but I can tell anything more would start to overpower the scope. With this eyepiece Jupiter was decent, but the Orion Nebula was very dim and difficult to focus upon. The nebula was best with the 7.5mm Sirius eyepiece. The 7.5mm was also nice for observing the moon. I used the 13% filter with it, otherwise it's a little on the bright on the eye.
Favorite viewing location:??Dark Northern France
Favorite object to observe:??Jupiter and it's moons
Pros: it's just so easy!, good clear optics, doesn't take up a lot of space in the house
Cons: the easy finder ii
Yes, I recommend this product!
