The Orion StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector Telescope exemplifies the perfect combination of well-rounded performance and convenient portability. Whether you’re looking for a versatile introductory instrument to begin a long-term love affair with the heavens; or feel the need for a compact, wide-field, user-friendly reflector telescope, the StarBlast 6 will not disappoint.

It doesn’t take a rocket-scientist to appreciate the amazing value of the StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector. Any amateur astronomer will tell you that reflector design telescopes provide the best performance for your investment, or best “bang for your buck”. Since the StarBlast 6 doesn’t employ the use of a complicated and heavy equatorial mount and tripod, the value looks better and better upon further inspection, much like the view through the telescope’s ample 6” aperture.

Speaking of views, with a StarBlast 6 you’ll soon telling friends and family about gorgeous lunar explorations of the Moon, jaw-dropping sights of (relatively) nearby Mars, giant Jupiter, and the always impressive Saturn with its stupendous rings. But the fun doesn’t stop there. The StarBlast 6 Astro Telescope’s substantial 5.9” (150mm) aperture parabolic reflector optics gathers oodles of light from objects well beyond our own solar system. Bright galaxies, mind-boggling globular and picturesque open star clusters, ethereal glowing nebulas, and other celestial denizens are well within reach. With a wide-field focal ratio of f/5.0, finding and tracking objects is easier than with longer focal-length telescopes, which makes stargazing nice and easy for beginners. More advanced hobbyists will welcome the intuitive simplicity of this “grab-and-go” astronomical workhorse.

Teflon bearings and easily adjustable altitude tension on the base ensure smooth maneuvering of the Orion StarBlast 6. You just sight through the included EZ Finder II reflex aiming device to locate the object you want to view, and then grip the convenient navigation knob on the tube to take aim. Pop the 25mm (for 30x power magnification) or 10mm (for a boost up to 75x power magnification) Sirius Plossl telescope eyepiece into the 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser and you’re ready to enjoy the wonders of the night sky. Keep the other telescope eyepiece at the ready in the convenient three-hole eyepiece rack. Two handle cutouts in the base allow easy lifting and transporting of the telescope. Set the StarBlast 6 reflector on the ground, or even on a small table or the hood of your car, then prepare to be stunned by the view!

Weighing in at a modest 23.5lbs., the assembled StarBlast 6 is portable enough to take along on the next family campout or friend-filled road-trip, without wasting valuable space for the rest of your gear. The StarBlast base arrives pre-assembled in the box providing a truly satisfying “out of box” experience.

The StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector telescope can now be upgraded to include an Orion IntelliScope "push-to" computerized object location system with the optional StarBlast 6 IntelliScope Upgrade Kit (sold separately). With the optional IntelliScope Upgrade Kit, the StarBlast 6 becomes a StarBlast 6i IntelliScope and can lead you to over 14,000 celestial objects!

The Orion StarBlast 6 Astro Telescope isn’t just a masterfully engineered, uncomplicated, and affordable telescope for all ages, it’s also a blast! (C’mon, we couldn’t help ourselves!)

Very nice Telescope, easy to use and well built. It is large, so moving it around can be a challenge.
My one complaint is the eyepieces provided. It comes with a 25mm and 10mm eyepiece which gives you 30x and 75x magnification, 75x is 25% of the capability of the telescope. After using it for a couple of weeks I ended up purchasing a 2x barlow and additional eyepiece to get the higher magnifications (I haven't received them yet). To put 75x in perspective, when viewing Jupiter you can just make out two cloud bands and see four moons.

I bought the Starblast 6 based on reviews here and on some other msg boards. I've always wanted a scope since peering thru one as a kid and I recently decided to get back into the hobby. The Starblast 6 is the perfect choice. It was backordered for Christmas but arrived 4 days later. I bought the recommended shorty barlow and the 13 percent transmission moon filter as well. The scope came well packaged and was a snap to set up. After it got dark, it took, literally, about 5 mins to view the moon and enjoy Jupiter and its four moons with fantastic clarity! The EZ red spotter that came with the Starblast was a great help in pinpointing an aim point for the scope.
This is an excellent starter scope although I hesitate to use the term "starter" as it's anything but!

My Starblast 6 occupies a special place of honor on an antique table in our family living room, as a result of its having been the first scope I ever won an observing award with. My brother gave it to me for Christmas one year, and it has always performed so spectacularly that I redecorate it in its original Christmas ornaments whenever it's not in use outside. The award I won was for Lunar Observing, and observers who read this will be interested to know that this little scope will be engaged in pursuing a secondary Lunar Award, since it is capable of being rigged with Orion's snap-and-shoot camera holder. I also used it for multiple Messier observations, as it handles deep sky smartly. Yet, it has the sharp resolution of a refractor! I have Orion's Deluxe Reflex finder on it now, but that could be swapped out for the wonderful Orion 9X50 right angle finder if someone reading this wants to try using the Starblast 6 to find Herschels. This scope is only limited by the skill level of the observer using it.
Favorite viewing location:??Backyard or driveway of home
Favorite object to observe:??Open Star Clusters
Pros: the ultimate grab'n'go, open cluster wonder, handy deep sky displayer, lunar delighter and photographer, excellence in star colors, one-stop shop for a telescope!
