It does make it easier to follow objects through binoculars on a tripod. It works as you would expect. But I had to subtract 2 stars because both the plastic slow motion knobs fall off very easily. Not so good at night when putting on or removing from the tripod. They are just a press fit and do not fit tightly at all. Looks like I'll need the super glue.
Yes, I recommend this product!

I purchased this for an SLR with telephoto lens. For that it works wonderfully. I tried to mount my new scope on it. For that I'm scared something will break and fall. The only problem I have with the design is that the 1/4-20 mounting screw on the bottom is nowhere near the center of the bottom. At the center is a differently threaded hole that's big enough to put a pipe in. (maybe that's what it's for I dunno) So if you connect it to something else using the 1/4-20 it won't be centered and all the weight will cantilever. The threads that control the Alt and Az movement are exposed so don't expect it to live through blowing sand for very long.
