ok, this definitly adds some weight and makes the mount a little difficult to carry.after you have put it together, it is easier to remove the top 3 or bottom 3 screws to remove the tube and head of the mount and there fore makes it easier to carry. only takes a minute to remove the screws and then put it back together.saves the back from hurting. love the extra height it gives, not only for refractors, but make`s viewing through my 25x100 giant binos. so much more easy on the neck and back. for those of you who own a celestron cg-5 mount, this will work with it.i own both the cg-5 and a svp mount. so if you don`t mind a little more weight and you need more height then i say you won`t go wrong getting this extension. thanks orion for making my viewing more enjoying.

I bought the extension for my Celestron CG-5GT mount and it was a perfect fit, provides the height I needed and is a solid and stable mount extension.

Just what you need if you have a refractor or a cassegrain and don't want to be on the ground all night. Makes observing a lot more comfortable. Works great on my CG-5 mount also. The product is also of high quality as all of Orion's products seem to be.

This extension is very well engineered and does provide the height and stability that I was looking for. Be forewarned that this is HEAVY and is not suitable for some tripods that it will fit on. I use it on a 2" tubular steel CG5 style tripod and it's fine but it is too heavy for my Vixen Great Polaris tripod. It's weight may turn your grab and go into a 2 or more piece operation unless you are relatively strong and fit.

Cons: heavy
