Focusing a telescope by hand can cause the image to shake or even move completely out of the field of view, especially at high magnifications. With the Orion AccuFocus Electronic Telescope Focuser, those annoyances are a thing of the past. Using the pushbutton hand controller you’ll enjoy smooth, precise focusing, without vibration. Choose any speed from coarse to very fine. The DC motor installs easily and works with most Orion telescopes (see list below).

The AccuFocus requires one 9-volt battery in the hand controller (battery not included). Motor, hand controller, motor bracket, attachment hardware, and coil cable included.    

The Orion AccuFocus Electronic Telescope Focuser works with these Orion telescopes:

  • Orion SkyQuest Classic Dobsonian telescopes (except the Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 Classic Dobsonian Telescope)
  • Orion SkyView Pro telescopes (except for Maksutov-Cassegrain and Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes)

It's a great gadget for astrophotography!! I use it with skywatcher ED 80 and skywatcher dob 8" I'm very huppy to have it and the instructions make it very easy to be assempled!!

You need to add this to your scope if you don't have a dual adjusment Crayford focuser. They also have one for the dual adjustment Crayford. It just makes the experience more pleasurable by leaving your hands out of the equation. Look we have goto and motorized scopes, why not motorize your focuser. Even with solid mounts such as the Atlas there is still some vibration that gets through but with the AccuFocus the speed is adjustable from fast so when your changing ep's you can get to the sweet spot. Then turn the knob to the slow speed to fine tune it.

Pros: keeps hands away from the scope.

Yesterday, my Accu-Focus came in the mail and I started to mount it to my old Orion/Celestron StarSeeker 70mm GoTo refractor. Although the bracket that came with the Focuser was lined up, my focuser cover screws weren't long enough for it to fit. After a trip to my local Ace Hardware, I found two longer screws and fitted the focuser to the scope. The focuser works wonderfully, with little in the way of vibrations. Even though it is slow, the focus is crisper and cleaner, than doing it by hand. I love the product, however I wish that Orion would include longer focuser cover screws with the focuser, so that it can be installed right out of the box.

Pros: metal design reduces warping, very precise focusing can be achieve
Cons: some scopes cannot use this right out of the box
