Focusing a telescope by hand can cause the image to shake or even move completely out of the field of view, especially at high magnifications. With the Orion AccuFocus Electronic Telescope Focuser, those annoyances are a thing of the past. Using the pushbutton hand controller you’ll enjoy smooth, precise focusing, without vibration. Choose any speed from coarse to very fine. The DC motor installs easily and works with most Orion telescopes (see list below).

The AccuFocus requires one 9-volt battery in the hand controller (battery not included). Motor, hand controller, motor bracket, attachment hardware, and coil cable included.    

The Orion AccuFocus Electronic Telescope Focuser works with these Orion telescopes:

It's a great gadget for astrophotography!! I use it with skywatcher ED 80 and skywatcher dob 8" I'm very huppy to have it and the instructions make it very easy to be assempled!!

I have an XT10i. This was my first scope. I was having trouble fine focusing because the scope would shake. This was mostly at high magnification. The low profile crayford focuser was too coarse for me to be able to find the focus with the image vibrating. I considered a two-speed crayford upgrade but this was less expensive and allows me to focus hands-off.
I can focus quickly now and then pay attention to viewing. Much better.
The speed control could use a knob to make it easier to adjust. I think a three position switch would be fine, slow, medium, and fast. I normally just use fast to get in the ball park then go to slow.
Some times, a little faster would be good and a little slower would be good. No complaints though.

Pros: no-shake focusing, easy to install - 15 minutes

I purchased the AccuFocus motor for my Celestron 8" newtonian. My telescope has the stock rack-and-pinion focuser, and while the focuser is solid (once adjusted) I find that the OTA shakes too much during focus to get accurate focus on planets. Focus masks work great for stars, but for planets I highly recommend this product. There's still a little shake in the OTA when using the motor but the movement is small and I'm able to keep Mars within the 5x zoom area of Liveview on my Canon DSLR.
AccuFocus was easy to install; I had it up and running in about 15 minutes and I did not need additional parts.
This is one of the best purchases you can make if you want to improve focusing.

I bought this because I was hoping it would help get me in getting sharper focus and not move as much when trying to get the perfect focus and WOW it does the job, makes focusing the telescope 100% better . The image no longer moves when I'm trying to focus. The speed speed control is great, it really does allow you to get a perfect focus. My only complaint is that it could be just a little bit faster and maybe a button to disengage gears so you can manually focus it from time to time, nothing big and definitely not anything to dock a star over. Good job Orion.
