The Orion SkyView AZ mount is a heavy-duty altazimuth mount that can support large telescopes weighing up to 25 lbs. — without the need for counterweights — allowing smooth, simple, stable operation. It's designed to hold one telescope, or two telescopes side by side!

Orion's SkyView AZ altazimuth head features dual dovetail slots to allow attachment of two telescopes in tandem, to double your viewing versatility. (You do have more than one telescope, don't you?) Now you can keep, say, your rich-field refractor and your long focal-length Mak or SCT on the same mount at the same time! Or your daytime spotting scope and your deep space reflector. You'll be a hit with your family, your friends, and fellow star-partiers whom you can invite to view right along with you.

The SkyView AZ mount provides a stable platform for easy altazimuth viewing with telescopes as large as an 8" reflector or 9.25" Schmidt-Cassegrain. Two telescopes of up to 25 lbs. each can be mounted simultaneously. They can be positioned parallel to each other or offset in altitude to point to different parts of the sky. Large knurled-aluminum knobs on both axes allow the tension to be optimized for smooth motion. The beefy 1-3/4"-diameter steel tripod legs adjust in height and are braced by a combination spreader bar/accessory tray for extra rigidity.

Whether you have one telescope or two to put on it, you will soon wonder how you ever got along without the Orion SkyView AZ mount's stability, portability, and effortless maneuverability. Weighs 19 lbs., 8 oz.

The Orion SkyView Az mount arrived fast and well packaged. Once assembled, it is a clear departure from alot of mass produced mounts made from recycled pop-can aluminum. The mount employs quality CNC machined parts and is very well constructed. Clearly Orion is aiming for the higher end with products like this. It handles bulky optical tubes easily over its 25 lb weight limit (per side) and maintains a nice center of gravity when said scopes have guide scopes sticking out (I'm too lazy to remove them when switching from the equatorial to this alt az). Stiction is barely noticible and increases with OTA weight, but the tension adustment can alleviate it more so. Damping time is well under 2 seconds at high magnifications. It is surprisingly light-weight, making my 9.25" Celsetron SCT and 4" APO refractor grab and go scopes (for when I want a quick view with minimal set up time). This mount serves its purpose VERY well and is a pleasure to use.

Orion Skyview AZ Mount and 18 inch extension.

Works great with my Meade 127mm f 7.5 apo. Should also work well with other heavy versions of this scope like the Explore scientific 127mm or the Eon 120mm apo. Balance is very important if you change for heavier or lighter eypieces. You might also wantto consider buying the extension if you are using a longer refractor. Anything above 2 feet needs this. It is also easier to find things in push to mode. Orions service is fast as ususal. Liked the price (...on special) but ended up paying more than it cost in my country due to duties and UPS's brokerage fees (I live in Canada). I Wish Orion would give us the choice to use USPS postal services. In that case I might have saved $ If you live outside the US, buy from an authorised Orion dealer in your country. It will cost you less, trust me on this.

All my OTA have been on this mount, and it's the mount that goes with me to star parties. Its flexibility allows me to pursue an extremely wide variety of observing programs, since it will easily support tubes with sufficient aperture to enable pursuit of very faint objects. Despite my long use of it, it shows very little wear, and will no doubt outlast my physical ability to observe. Talk about a real lifelong observing companion--this is it!
Favorite viewing location:??Backyard or driveway of home
Favorite object to observe:??Open Star Clusters
Pros: can't rave enough!, holds light to heavy tubes, has won me awards, under-promoted by orion
Yes, I recommend this product!

This mount is a great buy for the money. It can hold two normal sized scopes with ease and absorbs vibrations quickly. I have used it with two 4.7" and 3.1" refractors at the same time without any problems. When pointing the scopes at the zenith, though, it can be difficult to maintain the altitude tension tightened. But overall, it's a great mount.
Don't forget to balance the scopes properly and everything will be perfect.
Favorite viewing location:??Home in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico
Favorite object to observe:??DSOs
Pros: heavy duty, very sturdy, super easy to use, can hold multiple scopes
Cons: not a lightweight mount
Yes, I recommend this product!
