Item #  09332

Orion Scenix binoculars have always offered superior optical and mechanical quality compared to brands you find at most retail and sporting good stores. Now Scenix binoculars are even better, incorporating porro prisms made from high-grade BAK-4 optical glass. These are the same prisms found in binoculars that sell for four times the price or more than our affordable Scenix models.

You just can’t beat Scenix binoculars for all-around value and performance. Common, low-priced "mass market" binoculars have to cut corners by coating only one or two visible optical surfaces with antireflection coatings (and leaving many uncoated), by allowing looser tolerances on optical matching and alignment, and by employing poor-quality mechanical components.

Orion Scenix binoculars are refreshingly different. Every single air-to-glass surface of each binocular is antireflection coated, and the objective lenses are even multi-coated for additional light transmission and bright pleasing views. Orion doesn’t use gimmicky "ruby" coatings like you find on some binocular brands, which only serve to turn images an unnatural shade of green!

This Orion Scenix 7x50 binocular is wonderful for binocular astronomy as well as for scenic daytime viewing and hunting. Its bright 7mm exit pupil and 7.1° field of view let you enjoy scenic vistas in comfort. The 7x50 Scenix binocular weighs 28 oz. for easy portability. Its housing is constructed of sturdy metal, not plastic, and is armored with protective rubber which is a joy to grip. The large center focusing mechanism is the same one found on many more expensive binoculars, and adjusts smoothly to achieve ideal focus.

This 7x50 Orion Scenix binocular is rugged and reliable, delivering sharp images on demand. It includes a vinyl carrying case, lens caps, and a comfortable deluxe wide neck strap. The Scenix 7x50 binocular  accepts a tripod L-adapter (sold separately) for use on a tripod, which is recommended for lengthy astronomical viewing sessions.

I love these binoculars. They are wonderful. I enjoy watching the stars, and finding the constellations. I even (reluctantly) loaned them to my huband to take to a pro football game. He said he was amazed at the clarity of the binocs. He could zoom right in on the players' faces and see their expressions, which he enjoyed. (He was up high in the stadium). So thanks for a great pair of binocs. Dorothy Richardson

I already have a pair of 7x50 binoculars made by another company about 20 years ago. The old binoculars are very heavy and my arms were becoming fatigued after a short period of time. I was using these for borh birding and astronomy. I was shocked by how much lighter the Orion 7x50's are and how smooth the focusers worked. The clarity of the view is just as good as my old binoculars which I paid much more for. Great vaule for the price. Only problem for me was the eye relief (I wear glasses)....not as much as my old pair, but close.
Favorite object to observe:??Birds and celestial objects

Cons: eye relief

I just let my friends, family and neighbors use them and they always ask what I had to pay for them. When I tell them they ask if I would get them a pair. Orion should be paying me a commission.
Favorite viewing location:??My yard ( I live in the coulntry)
Favorite object to observe:??saturn and Orion
Pros: great soft case
Cons: people like to steal them

These are literally a 'solid' value. They are a cut above same price competition based on sturdy construction and very acceptable optics. I'd give the mechanical quality 5 stars "for the money".
Here's what I like about the 7x50 Scenix:
+ entire familly can use them; a few older binoculars I use have too tight 'eye relief' for eyeglass wearers
+ focusing is pretty good #smooth, stays put# and bridge between eyepices is very sturdy - unusual for less expensive binoculars
+ sharp images on axis, falloff at edge is not distracting
+ little or no ghosting thanks to better anti-reflection coatings, a improvement from older inherited 7x50's
+ Good rubber finish, seems durable and good grip, not heavy
+ bright images - seems to work close to full aperture.
+ build quality and "fit and finish" remind me of a camera-name brand binocular series from a decade or so ago, and this sets Scenix apart from many current models with less quality material choices.
+ comfortable neck strap #wide cloth# and slightly padded, very functional soft case
+ work well with tripod adapter
A few caveats:
- bought from other vendor who carries Orion as open box for savings. Found that fields of view have a small error #not perfect overlap# of a few %. Don't notice this at night and star images are aligned #seem to be "collimated" so overlook this, the slight offset is just noticable in daytime use but not distracting if you don't look for it. Check for alignment since this seems sturdy enough to kremain aligned if received in good order.
- like many Porro-prism models, these are not for up-close viewing of feeder on deck or flowers/butterflies, etc. due to about 12-15 foot minimum focus distance
Favorite viewing location:??backyard or 45-minute local dark sites
Favorite object to observe:??Moon & Milky Way
Pros: great for outreach use, good eye relief eyeglasses or no glasses, high index prisms and multicoated, compact / lightweight for 7x50
Cons: folding eyecups might wear out, not a real 'close focus' model
Yes, I recommend this product!
