Welcome to Orion's 39th Anniversary Milky Way Scavenger Hunt & Giveaway

Orion Telescopes & Binoculars is celebrating its 39th year this month!

This is a big year for us, and we couldn't have gotten this far without you, our loyal customers. As you may know, almost every historic American launch into space has occurred at one place in Cape Canaveral: Launch Complex 39. Thank you for launching us into our 39th year!

As we look ahead into the future of astronomy, we find this number extremely significant. As we hurdle towards our 40th year and beyond, we can only imagine the exciting discoveries and advancements on the astronomical horizon, and we're glad to have all of you on board, gazing at the stars and the observable universe with us!

So, to celebrate our 39th year we're hosting a Milky Way Scavenger Hunt during the first four weeks of July. As a way of saying thank you to our customers, we're giving away a StarShoot AutoGuider Pro Mono Astrophotography Camera to one lucky participant!

If you'd like to participate for a chance to win a SSAG Pro, please make sure you do two things first:

We've decided to begin each week's Scavenger Hunt clue at Messier 39, or M39, in honor of our 39th year.

Participation is easy:

We'll be posting 4 Milky Way Scavenger Hunt clues this month. Look for the links on our Facebook page on Tuesday, July 1, 8, 15 and 22, as well as in your email.

The scavenger hunt will begin at the open star cluster M39 in Cygnus, and hop from there each week to some of our favorite objects in and around the summer Milky Way.

To enter, use the clues to figure out the mystery object, and submit a sketch or image of the object to us via a Facebook message. If you're sketching, please take a snapshot of the image with your phone or camera and send it to us as a file. Since we'll be publishing four different mystery objects, you can submit up to four images or sketches—and with each submission, your name goes into the giveaway hat for the grand prize: An AutoGuider Pro! The winner will be chosen at random, so while we look forward to seeing your best work, this giveaway is applicable to all participants, and is not a contest for the best work submitted.

Please read the Official Rules and Terms & Conditions for the Scavenger Hunt below before submitting your image or sketch.

Good luck, and clear skies!

The Orion Team
