Adapter was good solution for puttting my 102mm Mak-Cas that had a 1/4-20 mounting block on the scope. Works well on my EQ-2 mount. Allows me to swap scope between the equatorial mount and a tripod when I don't want to hassle with the more cumbersome mount. Love that flexibility.

Do not be fooled by the solid looking, all metal construction of the picture. The unit I recieved had a plastic knob for tightening down onto 1-1/4" supplied mounting. When tightend down the unit still allowed my spotting scope to slip around on the mounting. When tightend down a little too much the 1-1/4" screw chews right throught its plastic knob mounting. I went through two of these before exchanging for tube rings and a dovetail bar to ensure solid mounting. As a tribute to Orion customer service they made the exchanges extremely easy and were very friendly about it. This item would probably work well if you just wanted to use it for mounting a SLR camera with not to big of a lens (less than 100mm), but no spotting scopes allowed!
