This is a really nice Barlow with a lot
of power.

I am so happy that my wife was able to
see saturn, for the first time with such
detail with the eye releif that the 26mm
eyepiece offers, along with the
magnification and clarity that this barlow
provides. With our Space Probe 130ST
the combination of the barlow and the
26mm eyepiece offer way better size
and detail, that using our other 9.7
eyepiece by itself. Superb! This is the
ideal solution for the people who wears
glasses, and need the eye releif
of "larger" eye pieces.

I bought this Barlow to go along with my
Orion XT8 Dob Classic Telescope. After
ordering it, I was thinking I should've
gone with the 2x, after some people said
it was too powerful. I got it, placed in my
scope, along the XT8's included 25mm
plossl eyepiece, and it worked pretty
good. The Views: The Moon looked
amazing with just the 25mm, and when I
added the Barlow, it looked pretty good
through it. Most people wouldn't
recommend a 3x Barlow with a 25mm
eyepiece on the Moon, but it wasn't a
bad view. The contrast was dulled, and
some of the edges became fuzzy like,
but it still popped with awesome detail.
Mars without the Barlow seemed like a
small red disk. For the most part, the
Barlow just increased the size when I
added it, making it slightly fuzzier, but it
didn't enhance, or add any detail to it. It
was just slightly bigger. Venus was the
same way. Saturn, on the other hand,
was an awesome view with the Barlow.
Even with weakened contrast, and fuzzy
edges, you could still see awesome
detail, slight cloud bands, a line for the
shadow created by the rings. And of
course the rings looked good too. I could
also see 8 of Saturns moons. Although,
you of course would be better off just
buying a 8mm eyepiece (or smaller),
instead of turning a 25mm into an 8mm
with this Barlow. But it would be better
used for turning much larger eyepieces
(75mm), into smaller mm'er eyepieces.
Hope this review helps anyone who
needs it!

I recently bought the Starblast 4.5 eq, a
really nice fast telescope. But I needed
more power to pull in the planets. The
optics in the Starblast hold up nicely to
high power so I decided to go with a 3x
barlow. The Orion Tri-Mag Barlow was
just the ticket. I've been using it all
this
week on Jupiter and it works great! I'm
surprised at the great views I'm getting
through my small scope but seeing is
believing.
The only thing that might give you
reason for pause.. is the tri-mag is a
long barlow...around 5 inches long so it
does stick out from the focuser, plus add
the eyepeice and it is out there. But the
views make up for this.
I would recommend this barlow if you
need a 3x barlow lens.

I am a beginner at astronomy, and
I still do not understand many things.
But I do know one thing, that this barlow
is worth your money! I have a Space
Probe 130 ST, and the lens worked
beautifully with it! I got great views of
Jupiter, and the Galilean moons.(A little
blurry, but just because of bad seeing
conditions + not being dark enough yet-
had to be home by 10 o'clock.) It was
such a wonderful experience using this
lens! (First Time Seeing Jupiter)

I easily give this Barlow lens a five star
rating. I originally ordered this as an
experimental "joke" and was not
expecting very much from a 3x Barlow.
However, was I ever in for a surprise!
Absolutely amazing! The views of the
moon through your AstroView 6 EQ and
your 15mm Orion Ultrascopic eyepiece
at 150x are truly wonderful. It is,
however, viewing the moon through your
150mm f/8 OTA that is really special.
Using your 20mm Plossl eyepiece and
your 3x Barlow, yielding 180x is
absolutely spectacular. I am not
observing the moon. I am orbiting it in
an Apollo space capsule! Thanks again
Orion for such a wonderful piece of
equipment at such an affordable price.

Recently I acquired an Orion StarBlast
4.5 EQ and I wanted to boost the power
of my telescope. I saw the shorty and I
was about to acquire it when I saw the
Tri-Mag and I got amazed. Where was
the problem? When I acquired my
telescope on its specifications, it
says "307x maximum theoretical
specification" so, when i check the
(magnification) of the scope and multiply
the power (it equaled) 225x with the
Tri-Mag, and I said "great." (It's) close to
the maximum theoretical magnification,
then i acquire it; but shortly after, the
telescope specs were updated and
changed. The highest theoretical (was
replaced with) maximum useful
specification and that is why I saw
blurred images with my new barlow.
I'm not disappointed with my telescope
or my barlow, on the contrary, I feel
more than satisfied for both of them,
because it was mostly my mistake not to
get more documented about the use
/combination of both pieces (scope and
barlow). But advice (from) a (and I
repeat again) satisfied customer: more
information regarding which kind of
telescopes can use a barlow or which
telescope can use this or that barlow (on
the website) so it will be more clear for
someone to buy the barlow they need.
Again thanks because i never have seen
mars, jupiter, saturn, the moon or venus
in that magnificent way with my own eyes
(not in photography or video or software
simulations). Wish you the best so you
can become the best.
PS: I have never seen saturn until the
eclipse day, it was a wonderful view.
