Orion SkyView Pro Telescope Mount Extension

I have a 102mm f/11 refractor on a CG4
mount. The OTA is about 40" long, so
viewing near zenith was a major pain -
until now. The 16" afforded by this
extension is saving my back and knees.
A previous poster commented that it
looks like Tim The Tool Man Taylor's
solution, but no, unlike something from
ToolTime, THIS WORKS GREAT!!! You
guys hit a home run with this one.

If you own a 150mm refractor with the
CG-5 mount, and are looking to boost
the height of the equatorial head
sufficiently to comfortably view objects
overhead, this is the ticket! Be warned,
however, that these extra pounds add
considerable weight to what is already
not considered a "grab and go"
package...the Celestron C150 takes on
nightmare proportions when this animal
is integrated into the mount. I don't
regret purchasing this extension, but
have taken it out of the mount twice
over the past four years simply because
it makes the mount so heavy. Be sure
your CG-5 has tracking, as it's almost
impossible while seated to reach the RA
and DEC knobs when the equatorial
head is six feet off the ground! Also,
viewing anything less than forty five
degrees above the horizon means you're
standing up ( comfort is a commodity
only overrated by the young ). All of
that said, your scope will turn some
heads at a public gathering, dwarfing all
those puny SCTs! If "Tim-the-tool-man-
Taylor" modified the Celestron C150mm
refractor package, this would be the
result.
