The Orion SkyLine Deluxe Green Laser Pointer is perfect for stargazers. It emits a thin but distinct green laser beam that appears to stretch all the way to the stars! Skyline's < 5mW green beam just keeps going and going, seemingly to infinity. It works in light-polluted or moonlit skies! It's great for pointing out stars, planets, and more for others to see. The SkyLine now uses electronic feedback regulation to ensure ultra-stable beam intensity compared to other green lasers on the market, even in cold temperatures.
The aluminum body is 6" long and features a pocket clip. Includes two AAA batteries. CAUTION: Use the Skyline Deluxe Green Laser Pointer responsibly! Never aim it anywhere near people, moving vehicles, or windows. Keep out of the hands of children.

I bought the GLP with the telescope
bracket. I'm using it with my newtonian
reflector on an equatorial mount. It's
much easier to use than my finder scope
when pointing my telescope to its
"target". Great buy!

Had fun and used the laser in observing
stars but the button that activates the
laser wore out pretty quickly. First
activating became problematic and
intermittent, then button stopped
working all together. Lasted about 1
year. Not worth the investment.

and pointing out stars to friends and
acquaintances. I like it so well for the
first application that I'm going to order
another one to use exclusively as a hand-

i just bought the orion skyline deluxe
green laser pointer and telescope
bracket. it took 10-15 minutes to get
it fine tuned in its mounting bracket.
I love it! it makes pointing my 10"
newtonian on an atlas mount much
easier. before i was using a telrad and
the 9x50 finder. the problem with the
telrad was sometimes (often) it was hard
to look through the finder and be able to
reach the ra and dec levers. that 10"
newtonian is great, but it's a gorilla in
size.
now, i can easily reach the levers while
following the laser beam across the sky.
i centered it up to a bright star in a 12mm
guiding eyepiece and was able to starhop
to visible stars by using the ra and dec
levers to get the beam close to the star,
then i would line up behind the laser, like
aiming a rifle, and use the conrol pad to
fine tune the beam directly onto the star.
this was accurate enough to place the
star into the field of view of a 100x
eyepiece without using any other finder!

I recently purchased the laser pointer
along with the sighting mount for my 6"
Newtonian Scope. I have been completely
satisfied and star alignment for the Go
To system is so much faster being able
to watch exactly where my scope is
pointed without stopping to look thru
the spotting scope. I recommend this set
up for anyone performing Go To alignments.

I recently purchased your Deluxe Green
Laser Pointer. Naturally, it rained for a
month. But I finally got to use it at a
public star party. It was much brighter
than my previous one, and didn't fade
out after a few seconds, or in cool
weather, as I had experienced before.

constellations look like, thanks to my

Before owning the Laser pointer it was
difficult if not impossible to point out
objects in the sky-unless they were
bright and obvious. Most people with any
experience in observing the sky know
that most object in the sky do not stand
out if you don't know where to look.
Now, It's as easy as pointing a finger
with the Skyline deluxe lazar pointer.
It's beam, though thin, is clear and
distinct, it can appear to touch an object
in the sky.

The second time I used the Skyline
Laser Pointer, it dropped for my gloved
hand to the snow covered ground and
broke. I would think that a product that
costs as much as this did would have
been engineered better to absorb the
shock of a 24 inch fall to the ground.

I bought this laser in december of 07.
Its not January of 09 and this laser
still works. Black paint scraches off
after awhile but who cares when the
thing lasts this long and works in 15
degree Fahrenheit weather. I also use
rechargeable batteries,only have to
charge them once in 2 months of use.

I just got this pointer and it is a lot
of fun. It is super bright, and I get a
good beam with a lot of ambient light
around.
I wasn't able to get a very good beam in
my house, so I cooked up some bacon to
make smoke, and it works like a charm.
The beam is bright and visible, and is
quite entertaining.

I was impressed that the laser did point
with a green lite at each object at
which I aimed. Then, without telling my
five neighbors what was up, I pointed
out Vega, Deneb, Altair, and traced the
Summer Triangle. I heard several "Wows"
and all seemed amazed at the device.
Then in order I showed them Polaris,
traced Cassiopeia, pointed out Capella
and the Pleiades. And to cap it all off,
I had previously dropped it on the
cement driveway - it's "good and tough".

When looking at the night sky with some
other casual observers, no one is totally
certain which celestial body you are
talking about. This powerful laser truly
gives the illusion that it is reaching the
star. There is not doubt about which star
you are talking about. This would be a
great tool for any one taking a group out
at night and pointing out particular stars
and planets. A great tool for teachers
and just fun for the rest of us. I'm sure
it might have other uses for more
advanced amateur astronomers, but
even for those of us who are using
binoculars with friends, it is a great tool.

celsius but as soon as it cools down
past this temp it starts sputtering and
at 5 C it stops working at all.

Life Of The Star Party!
I've been doing scheduled public
stargazing presentations for many
years. During these events most of the
interest of the "gearheads" used to be
directed at the telescopes. Since
getting my Orion Deluxe Green Laser
Pointer, the scopes must share the
limelight. The comparisons of the pointer
to a "Star Wars" light saber are
inevitable and help liven the discussions.
The most important thing the laser
pointer does is ease the task of pointing
out sky targets and tracing the shapes
of constellations. No longer do I have to
kneel before each participant while they
try to sight along my outstretched arm.
Now I can simply point to the object or
draw each asterism once and move on to
the next one. This pointer is a lot of fun
and a real time saver.

I teach a high school astronomy class
and my students love this laser! I have
to keep them from fighting to get their
hands on it during overnight field trips.
If you try to use it with too much light,
of course, it will not work because there
is no contrast. But on a dark night with
some pollen in the air, you can really
spark the imagination of future
astronomers.

The laser pointer is a great tool for
amateur astronomers. It helps me point
out stars to my friends and helps me
identify constellations. The laser
seems to go on forever during the dark.
The only problem I have sometime is
wanting to go out in the day. But that
is because it is used for night. If you
are a starting amateur astronomy, it is
a must buy tool!

What a cool product. We are new
stargazers, so figured needed a way to
say hey, i'm looking at this area right
here. The Laser Pointer did that great,
but immediately I thought, How would
this do for pointing birds out
when "Birding", or game out
when "Hunting". Found that location of
target species, during low light conditions
was much easier to convey to fellow
searchers with this high intensity blast of
light. Does not, however, work well in
bright light, unless within about 30'.

I received my Skyline Deluxe Green
Laser Pointer for Christmas 2007. It
does everything that I imagined. My
wife & kids were always wondering what
I was looking or pointing at, now they

know where I am looking. I would

Deluxe Green Laser Pointer for anybody
looking at the heavens. The sturdy metal
case is very well constructed and

Using this laser to point out objects &
draw constellations is sometimes more
fun & informative than looking through
the telescope... The educational value
(especially for young kids and
beginners) is unparalleled. You need a
dark sky (nearby streetlights and even
bright porchlights can dim out the laser
greatly) - but out of the 20 people I've
shown it to, all 20 of them were
completely in awe. I would assume that
attaching it to a small telescope would
be extremely helpful, but I haven't
actually bought that accessory yet. Buy
lots of batteries... :)
