Features

Orion SteadyPix Universal Camera Mount
  • SteadyPix holds any camera to the telescope eyepiece for photographing celestial objects
  • Works with virtually any digital or film camera
  • Attaches directly to a 1.25" telescope eyepiece with felt-lined clamp
  • Camera threads on to a 1/4"-20 pedestal via a threaded hole in the camera body
  • Fits 1.25" eyepieces only. One-year limited warranty

This nifty Orion SteadyPix Universal Camera Mount holds virtually any digital or film camera up to the eyepiece of any telescope to capture images of the Moon, planets, bright deep-sky objects, or terrestrial subjects. SteadyPix locks the camera lens in position at just the right distance and orientation relative to the telescope eyepiece to achieve precise focus and centering of the image for afocal photography.

SteadyPix features all-metal construction for maximum rigidity. It attaches directly to any standard 1.25" telescope eyepiece with one of two felt-lined eyepiece clamps provided (for standard or large-size 1.25" eyepieces). The camera threads on to a 1/4"-20 pedestal via the threaded hole in the camera body. There are no additional parts to buy as with some other models. SteadyPix's three adjustment points let you position any brand of digital or 35mm camera close to the eyepiece for picture taking. Looking at the camera's viewscreen or through its viewfinder, you then focus the image and snap the shot!

Telescope eyepieces with long eye relief are recommended to minimize vignetting of images. Fits 1.25" eyepieces only.

Why not give through-the-telescope photography a try? The results may surprise you. One-year limited warranty.

Very flimsy. Can't handle weight of my small camera. Won't stay in position while moving scope.

I have used the SteadyPix on all my telescopes. Realizing that this device is not a Mercedes Benz or BMW, and considering it's inherant limitations, the little bugger does just what it was designed to do. My snapshots are simple, but they're also pretty good!

I was really looking forward to this to get into some rudimentary astrophotography, but there's a major problem using this with the NexStar SE's Alt-Az mount: the Alt drive is a slip clutch and when you hang anything heavy on the back of it the telescope slips upward. My camera is by no means heavy (Kodak 612) but the only way the scope will handle the weight using this mount is when it's pointed straight at the zenith. I'm giving 3 stars because it looks like a good mount but it should not be advertised as "universal".

This is a terrible device. If you make a significant move of your scope, this device will shift the camera. There are other devices that are much better consisting of a platform that locks on the eyepiece and is completely adjustable for your point and shoot camera.

I would like to say that it works for me fantastic. I was all prepared for it to slide and rotate but it did not,in that respect it worked perfect.the only problems if you want to call them that is lining up the eyepieces to the camera. when I used ,my 25mm 1.25 inch it was easy to line up,when I used my 9mm it was a little harder. but all in all it works very well

I bought this item a while ago but it didn't fit any of my eyepieces , it have 2 sizes of a metal piece to grab the eyepiece , but they both fail to grab my 1.25" eyepieces . (Stratus - Edge-on planetarium) my 2 1.25" orion eyepieces

I purchased this unit for use with a Coronado PST, I found that provides an excellent and stable base for photography with this solar telescope. I have used both still and movie cameras to record excellent solar images
