Orion gets requests all the time from serious amateur astronomers asking what binocular we'd recommend for wide-field stargazing. Well, from now on our answer will be "Resolux"! They're our new favorite astro binoculars (and equally superb for long-distance daytime viewing), combining high-resolution, flat-field optics with mechanical construction that meets the U.S. military spec for ruggedness and the strict JTII spec for collimation. They are fully waterproof, and nitrogen purged to prevent internal lens fogging. And all this for a very reasonable price.

With this Resolux 15x70 binocular, you'll enjoy performance that you simply won't find in other binoculars. Your first scan of the Milky Way will prove it pinpoint stars set in bold contrast against the dark background. Gorgeous! The extra-large BAK-4 prisms and advanced multi-coatings on all optical surfaces really drink in the light. The eyepieces focus individually, which yields a sturdier mechanical design than a center-focus mechanism. And with 18mm of eye relief, even eyeglass wearers will see the full field of view.

This Resolux's all-metal housing is armored with thick rubber to ensure a secure, comfortable grip. Each binocular comes with lens caps, heavy-duty tripod adapter, and neck strap. This binocular comes with a foam-lined hard case. Two-year limited warranty.

I recently took delivery of the Resolux 15x70 waterproof binoculars and also the GiantView 25x100 binoculars as I realized that binoculars would be a sensible first step in acquainting myself with the night sky. Both are excellent devices and offer great performance at a price quite less than other name-brand but more expensive binoculars. I also purchased the Orion parallelogram mount which I use with the Resolux which makes for a great and useful combo due to its flexibility of orientation-I highly recommend this combo. Unfortunately the mount is not robust enough nor does it have the proper attachment configuration to accommodate the larger and heavier 25x100 GiantView (maybe Orion can design and manufacture a parallelogram mount for the GiantView!). All in all I am quite pleased with the quality of the products I have purchased so far from Orion and would recommend Orion to anyone. I look forward to the time when I finally purchase my first 'scope from them!

These things are built like a tank and come with an impressive carry case and tripod adapter bracket..Nice crisp images of the Moon, Sirius, Arcturus, star clusters and comets..Pleiades came in very nice as well, Antifogging lenses- Tripod highly recommended since they get heavy quick. I am very happy with the 15x70 resolux binoculars. There is no coma and stars are sharp to the edge of the eye piece. There is a very small amount of color around bright objects like the moon and Venus but less than I expected. They are easy to handle but due to their size you need something to steady them. The independent adjustment of the eye pieces works out well as once set, stay in focus. The case is very well made, very sturdy with a padded lining. The lens covers are of a good design but do not stay in, the lip on the cover should extend farther into the binocular. The neck strap was damaged in manufacture due to heat shrinking one side and is not usable on a heavy binocular. These are minor complaints and do not affect the quality of the Binoculars.

The middle third of the FOV is great. Outside of this, the next 50%, has coma . The outer 15% of the field is poor. As you pan the night sky large blobs appear at the edge, which draws your attention. Overall I'd say I'm disappointed with these. I bought them in late winter and didn't have a good chance to evaluate them before the 30 days was up. If I had I would have returned or exchanged them.
