Astrophotography: The Big picture
Sooner or later, many amateur astronomers will want to try their hand at astrophotography. To avoid frustration, you should begin with the basics and gradually work toward more complex types of astrophotography.
Observing and Photographing Meteors
On just about any evening under a dark sky, you're likely to see a meteor or two streak across the starscape. They catch you by surprise, serving as a reminder that space is not static ¿ things are moving out there, and fast.
Camera Adapter
Any type of telescope can be used for astrophotography, as long as it has a solid mount and a clock drive. To attach a 35mm SLR camera securely to the telescope, you need the proper adapters.
Constellations
Constellations are like countries on a wall map. They help narrow down the search for those tiny hard-to-find little cities or deep sky objects you would like to visit.
Easy Photography
You don't need a telescope to get started in astrophotography. With just a camera and tripod, you can photograph more stars than your eye can see, and you can see their varied colors. You can capture interesting star trail scenes and even pick up nebulas such as the Orion Nebula and Lagoon Nebula.
