OversizeZap the pharaoh. No, that's not slang for a questionable act, but the object of the first ever board game to use real lasers! Khet: The Laser Game (formerly Deflexion) is a high-tech game of strategy in which two players try to zap each other's pharaoh by bouncing a laser beam off Egyptian-themed game pieces bearing one, two, or no mirrored surfaces.
Players alternate turns moving their obelisks, pyramids, djed columns, or pharaoh, then firing a class II diode laser built into the game board. The red laser beam ricochets off the mirrors and if it hits a non-mirrored surface on any piece, that piece is destroyed (figuratively!) and removed from play. The goal is to zap your opponent's pharaoh while shielding yours.
Khet is fun for players of all ages, and not just geeks and dweebs. In fact, "geeks" was the only group to rate it a 9 out of 10 on overall enjoyment, instead of the usual 10 of 10 from all other groups, including swimsuit supermodels. AAA batteries included.
