Born out of the popular iOptron Cube, MiniTower is the ultimate observing solution for people who are searching for a capable and portable GoTo telescope mount to counter light pollution in their backyards and for travel convenience. With a standard payload of 25 lbs, a rock solid 1.5" alloy/stainless steel tripod, metal worm and gear and two dovetail adaptors, MiniTower is capable of handling a majority of the OTAs that have ever been made. Its payload can be even further enhanced by more than 50% with heavy-duty accessories. With all the standard components (excluding the tripod) packaged in an alloy metal case, MiniTower can easily be carried around in a car trunk or as airline luggage. The whole system takes only 10 minutes to assemble. This portability, combined with the internal GPS, gives amateur astronomers extreme flexibility in selecting an observing location. iOptron MiniTower GoTo Telescope Mount

This mount is everything one could want in a quick, easy and accurate alt-az mount. It is really very easy to set up and use. I did a quick one star setup and it was able to place every object I selected into the field of view on my Eon 120 at 68x. Admittedly I did not do a really careful setup, but I was still able to do an hour's worth of observing with less than 10 minute's worth of setup. That included walking handfuls of equipment from my basement to backyard. You can hear the mount while it runs. The Eon is absolutely the biggest telescope this mount will handle. It just makes it past the tripod leg when pointing at the zenith and in focus. Slewing noise is low and shouldn't annoy fellow observers at a star party. This mount works with 8 AA batteries, which makes it very portable and quick to set up. You just level, balance, hook up the controller and align. You are ready to observe. With practice I would say it's a sub five minute setup. Recommended without reservations.

I got the MiniTower to upgrade my Cube mount, one of the earliest version. Comparing to the Cube, this one is much better in terms of payload and stability. The GOTO and tracking accuracy are very good, as most of the users experienced. I especially like the two scopes mounting! I do notice it is not that convenient using one star or two star alignment. But most of the time, I am using zero star alignment. So not a problem for me. iOptron's customer service is also great. I got a broken knob. An email solved the problem!

althought at the begining i found it hard to settle it as i have never used a go-to mounting and i am a newbie in the astronomy thing , i had found it easy afterall to start to benefit from the GPS and easy star allignment , even i have heard many comments arguing that the wrapping of the mounting is bad so the counterweight will damage the tripod , i found that the counterweight is wrapped alone in a very thick and huge buuble bag which proctect whatever is included insidethe same shipping box , at the end i would like to thank you for the great customer service and the brilliant website which can help anyone even if he dont know anything about astronomy or he is an advanced user .

Received the MT as Xmas gift. It was perfect for my C9. Unfortunately the GPS failed to function and the dovetail lock was damaged after a big drop of the minitower. iOptron tech support helped me identifying the loose GPS connector and fixed it. The replacement of the damaged dovetail lock arrived at my house a few days later. Their tech support was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Great concept but needs a little work. I had to purchase two of these mounts because the first one had a defective controller. The second mount worked but did not work the way I thought it would. To a have a proper two- star or three- star alignment, a clear view of the sky is needed. Well, I have a house in my way blocking the west which doesn't give me the choice on where to set it up. On how it works, the mount needs to be well leveled to track and find objects. It would get very close to the object, but would always be too low. Other people have had wonderful reviews on this mount, but I'm probably the exception to the rule.
