The Observer's Handbook is a 360-page guide published annually since 1907 by The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Through its long tradition and the expertise of more than 50 contributors, the Observer's Handbook has come to be regarded as the standard Nort h American reference for data on the sky. The material in the Handbook is of interest to professional and amateur astronomers, scientists, teachers at all levels, students, science writers, Scout and Guide leaders, as well as interested general readers. The various sections in the Observer's Handbook are of two kinds- upcoming astronomical events and astronomical reference information. In the astronomical event section detailed information can be found about eclipses, transits, periodic comets, meteor showers, locations of planets and bright asteroids, moon phases and much more. In the astronomical reference section there is information about orbital and physical data on the planets, optical properties of telescopes and binoculars, and new sections on the electromagnetic spectrum and sky phenomena, along with star tables and maps of the moon. This is not a complete list of all the material in this book as it is chockfull of useful astronomical information. Edited by Patrick Kelly, soft-bound.
