Oversize
User Level IntermediateAstronomers looking for a nicely portable, wide-field telescope on a mid-sized GoTo mount need look no further than the Orion SkyView Pro EON 80ED GoTo Telescope. It embodies the optical quality and ease-of-use functionality that will keep you coming back for more on every clear night.
The EON 80ED's 500mm focal length (f/6.25) provides a wide field of view that puts nebulas, star clusters, and galaxies in the context of their surrounding stellar background. The 80mm air-spaced doublet telescope lens is crafted with one element of FPL-53 extra-low dispersion, "ED", optical glass, which virtually eliminates the effects of chromatic aberration. Views of the planets, Moon, and bright stars will be delightfully free of color fringing, unlike in standard refractors telescopes. All air-to-glass lens surfaces are fully multi-coated for maximum light throughput.
Getting around the sky couldn't be easier with the SkyView Pro GoTo mount. The GoTo system consists of a computerized hand controller with backlit LCD screen and two high-precision stepper motors that move the telescope quickly and quietly to the chosen target. With intuitive menus and illuminated pushbutton controls, the GoTo system locates and tracks any celestial object in its database of 42,900 objects, including the entire Messier and NGC catalogs. You can take a guided tour of the night sky and visit the current month's best objects.
