Great for all-around astronomical observing, these highly portable, uncomplicated telescopes are just the right size and weight for all family members, and just the right price for parents.

The SpaceProbe 3 Altazimuth Reflector Telescopes make the night sky's treasures accessible right from the backyard. They will reveal Saturn's picturesque rings, Jupiter's moons, and the incredibly cratered terrain of our own Moon's surface. Their 3"-diameter (76mm) primary mirror also gathers enough light to snare the faint glows of some very exotic star clusters and nebulas!

The aluminum Newtonian optical tube features a 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser to ensure sharp images in the telescope eyepiece. Speaking of which, each telescope now comes with two interchangeable Explorer II telescope eyepieces (1.25")—25mm (28x) and 10mm (70x)—as well as a wide-field, EZ Finder II to aid in locating objects. An adjustable-height tripod with accessory tray and aluminum legs is also included standard.

The Orion SpaceProbe 3 Altazimuth Reflector Telescope comes with an Altazimuth mount. The altazimuth mount is lightweight and easy to use with simple up/down left/right motions. (The SpaceProbe 3 is not recommended for terrestrial viewing as the images will not be right-side up.)

For the novice keen to discover what's "out there," the affordable Orion SpaceProbe 3 Altazimuth reflector Telescope provides a wonderful opportunity! Focal length 700mm (f/9.2). One-year limited warranty.

I've owned two dozen telescopes over the past 25 years -- large and small, expensive and cheap. The Spaceprobe 3 Altaz is the best astronomical telescope I've ever seen for under $100. I use it during astronomy outreach events next to an 8" Dob and people are amazed how well the little Spaceprobe 3 works. It's a shining example of a small, inexpensive telescope done right and I hope to be able to recommend it for many years to come!

Good scope for the money. Sturdy tripod. Very simple and easy to use. Fantastic starter scope. A little disapointed with the eyepeices that come with it. Works much better with some old cheap plossls I have. All-in-all: Great buy. Yes, eyepeices were a bit of a disapointment, but the price of the scope should allow for some residual cash to purchase better ones. (What can one expect for $100?) In the mean time, these will do. The $100 buys a lot nicer scope than it would get you at any department store. Orion sells great products. This is no exception.

This is my first real astronomy telescope and I love it. It was easy to assemble and took no more than recommended time. The parts were easy to find. It works great and within the first week I have had great views of the Moon, Venus and Saturn. With the LED spotter scope it was easy to find objects. It really works great, thank you. I am impressed.

I bought the SpaceProbe 3 Altazimuth Reflector just to have when I want to get back to basics (I have several scopes ranging from 60mm to 14"). This is a remarkably good scope for the price! I start tested it and the optics are very good, better than I expected. On my first night out I looked at M42, M45, M36, M37, M38, M1, M78 and several double stars. All were easily visible (I have fairly decent skies, limiting mag around 5.5). On night #2 I looked at the above objects plus M44, M41, M81, M82 and the Double Cluster. On the third night out I caught the crescent Moon and it was very sharp and clear. Venus also showed its phase clearly. The scope is easy to use and easy to carry out for a quick observing session. I was impressed at how much I could see in a 3" scope. The red dot finder worked well (however if skies were badly light polluted a regular finder would be better). All in all this is a well made scope especially when the price is taken into account. Both eyepieces worked very well and are nicely matched to this scope. A great starter scope if your budget only allows around $100.

I bought the SpaceProbe 3 Altaz Reflector for my 5 year old son. After doing exhaustive research it seemed to be a very good telescope for the price. I am extremely pleased with this telescope. It is much better than some other telescopes twice the price (or more). It has just the basic features - but, hey, what more do you really need?

I bought one for my granddaughters and one for my nephew. They are easy to set up and use. Collimation was good right out of the box and we even used one of them to get a pretty darn good picture of Jupiter with a webcam setup. I'd recommend the SpaceProbe3 as a great starter scope or even as a nice grab and go scope for anyone. (Note from Orion: This telescope is not recommended for astrophotography.)
