Oversize
User Level BeginnerAstronomy enthusiasts seeking an entrée to astronomical adventure will get it in spades with an Orion SpaceProbe 3. Great for all-around astronomical observing, these highly portable, uncomplicated scopes are just the right size and price for your beginning telescope.
SpaceProbe 3 reflector telescopes make the night sky's treasures accessible right from the backyard. They will reveal Saturn's picturesque rings, Jupiter's moons, and the incredibly cratered terrain of our own Moon's surface. Their 3"-diameter (76mm) primary mirror also gathers enough light to snare the faint glows of some very exotic star clusters and nebulas!
The aluminum Newtonian optical tube features a 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser to ensure sharp images in the eyepiece. Speaking of which, each scope now comes with two interchangeable Explorer II eyepieces (1.25")—25mm (28x) and 10mm (70x)—as well as a wide-field, and EZ Finder II Reflex Sight to aid in locating objects. An adjustable-height tripod with accessory tray and aluminum legs is also included standard.
The SpaceProbe 3 EQ comes with the EQ-1 equatorial mount. It allows easier manual "tracking" of celestial objects, once you get the hang of it. (The SpaceProbe 3 is not recommended for terrestrial viewing as the images will not be right-side up).
For the novice keen to discover what's "out there," the affordable SpaceProbe 3 reflector provides a wonderful opportunity! Focal length 700mm (f/9.2). One-year limited warranty. Weighs 16 lbs.
