For the beginning to intermediate astronomy enthusiast who is stepping up from a smaller first telescope, you'll want to take a look at this. The SkyLine 6" Dobsonian Reflector will take your observing sessions to a higher level - showing you more celestial objects and in more dazzling detail, while providing an easy, point-and-view experience.

The SkyLine 6" Dobsonian features and 152mm (6") diameter parabolic primary mirror with 94%-96% reflectivity for bright views of celestial treats. The telescope's long 1200mm focal length (f/7.9) will provide some serious magnifying power for observing the Moon and planets, while yielding bright views of deep-sky treats such as star clusters and nebulas. Just aim the optical tube at your target using the included 6x30 crosshair finder scope, then look into the fully multi-coated 25mm or 9mm Plossl eyepiece - it comes with both! - to see your subject at 48x power or a whopping 133x power! The telescope glides smoothly on its base, with adjustable tension on the azimuth (left/right) axis and spring tension on the altitude (up/down) axis. The bearings on both the altitude and azimuth axes are made of UHMW, for silky smooth motion. (The larger SkyLine Dobsonian telescopes use roller bearings on the azimuth axis.)

One standout feature of the SkyLine 6" Dobsonian is its premium quality focuser. No standard-issue cast-metal jobbie, it is a completely CNC machined, single-speed 1.25" Crayford focuser that lets you bring your targets into snappy focus quickly and effortlessly. Having such smooth, incremental focusing control lets you home in on minute surface details, like the cloud bands of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, and albedo markings on Mars.

A handy eyepiece rack for the Dobsonian base is included, which provides a convenient storage spot for your telescope eyepieces and other accessories. Also included is a quick-collimation cap for use in aligning the telescope's mirrors for peak performance.

Dobsonian Skyline Comparison Chart

With an assembled weight of 37.5 lbs., the SkyLine 6" Dobsonian is a big but still very portable telescope. The optical tube can be separated quickly from the Dobsonian base for easy, two-component transport, and the base is even outfitted with a large carrying handle. The individual weights of the base and optical tube without accessories are 23.5 lbs. and 12.5 lbs., respectively.

So when you're ready to make the jump to a top-quality, big-aperture telescope that will WOW you with its views and ease of use night after night, get the SkyLine 6" Dobsonian!
