I got into astronomy last September when I first purchased an Orion Starblast 6 but then upgraded it to the SkyQuest XT8 classic and was happy I did. Orionā??s customer service was very helpful in allowing me to upgrade within the first 30 days to make this possible. Since then I have purchased the entire line of Orion Sirius Plossi from 6.5MM up to 32MM and a set of DeepView 2ā?? with the hard case. Top this off with my Orion Laser Pointer and 50MM right angle finder Iā??m all set for night sky adventure. Iā??ve taken my scope to Maine on vacation but use it mostly in my driveway in central New Jersey. Iā??ve seen Jupiter and its moons, Saturn and its rings and the Orion Nebula and Andromeda galaxy just to name a few from my house. Still hunting for the Crab Nebula but expect to nab it this year once the nights get cool and Taurus is high in the sky. Last night I viewed Delphinus for the first time.
Date Taken: 06/21/2013
Photographer: Tim A.
Location: Martinsville, New Jersey, Driveway
Telescope: Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope
Other Camera: iPhone 5
Processing: none
Exposure: single exposure
Other Equipment Used: Orion Sirius Plossl 1.25 08741
Notes: This photo was a mistake but I really like the color of the moon and it even looked like it was taken from a space ship window since you can see the inside of the focus tube and some interesting spots. I used an iPhone 5 with the standard camera just holding it up to the eye piece.
