Although perfect for beginning stargazers, this tabletop reflector telescope is not a toy! With its substantial, 100mm (3.9") aperture parabolic glass primary mirror boasting a 400mm focal length, the compact Orion SkyScanner 100mm TableTop Reflector telescope will amaze you and your family with gorgeous, detailed views of the night sky.

With this capable reflector, you can study the Moon's cratered surface in detail, exploring highland mountains and vast, planar lunar "seas" of dark material. Bright planets like Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars shine brightly in the SkyScanner 100mm Reflector telescope, even when viewing from urban locations. On clear evenings when viewing from dark skies, the pint-sized Orion SkyScanner telescope can gather enough light for views of open and globular star clusters, bright cloudy nebulas, and even a few distant galaxies.

Set the compact SkyScanner 100mm TableTop Reflector telescope on a table in the back yard, or even on the hood of your car in the backcountry, and comfortably view the heavens to your heart's content. Thanks to its small stature, the SkyScanner makes a great grab-and-go telescope for road trip adventures, camp-outs, and just carrying to the local park.

Use the included Orion E-Series Moon Filter to enhance your viewing enjoyment of the Moon.

The Orion E-Series 1.25" 13% Transmission Moon Filter reduces glare and boosts contrast so you can see enjoy more detailed views of lunar surface features. It blocks excessively bright glare to provide a more comfortable view of the Moon's surface, the neutral density filter will not alter the natural color of the Moon and the eyepiece filter transmits only 13% of the incoming light, improving contrast and detail.

star target

The Orion Star Target Planisphere is a useful star chart wheel for any day of the year.

This circular star map lets you dial-in the month and day you're observing the sky, so you can see exactly which constellations and stars will be visible if skies are clear. Using the Orion Star Target is a great way for starters to plan their first stargazing sessions with the Orion GoScope III 70mm Refractor, since you'll know just where to point the telescope!

What's more, if there isn't a table nearby when you want to use the SkyScanner 100mm TableTop Reflector telescope, you can easily attach its altazimuth base to a field tripod. A threaded 3/8"-16 socket on the bottom of the base can be coupled to a field tripod equipped with a standard 3/8" threaded post. Alternatively, the SkyScanner optical tube can be separated from its base for attachment to a Vixen-type dovetail saddle found on many equatorial and altazimuth mounts.

An excellent, easy-to-use telescope value at an affordable price, the Orion SkyScanner 100mm TableTop Reflector is an ideal beginner's telescope capable of providing hours of family fun exploring the cosmos.

NOTE: The SkyScanner is a reflector type telescope, and reflectors are not recommended for daytime terrestrial viewing because the image in the eyepiece is not right-side up. But reflector telescopes make great astronomical instruments, because there is no "right side up" in space!

Meets or exceeds all California State Environmental Quality & Safety Regulations (CARB 93120 Phase 2 Compliant).
