The SkyProdigy 90 Computerized Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope from Celestron is a truly revolutionary instrument which makes it easy to enjoy hours upon hours of stargazing entertainment thanks to its automatic alignment capabilities.
The SkyProdigy 90 Computerized Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope employs electronic motors, an on-board computer and digital camera, and Celestron’s StarSense technology for automatic, instant alignment without any input required from the user. In fact, zero knowledge of the night sky is required to align the SkyProdigy 90 computerized telescope. All you have to do is turn on the SkyProdigy 90 Maksutov-Cassegrain, push a single button, and enjoy the views. Wow! Now anyone can be an instant astronomer.
After giving the automatic alignment process just a few minutes, the Celestron SkyProdigy 90 Computerized Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope will be ready to show you views of some 4000 celestial wonders. The automated alignment process begins with the on-board camera automatically capturing an image of the night sky, which is quickly processed by the telescope computer to identify star patterns. Once a positive pattern match is found, the SkyProdigy computer determines the coordinates of the stars in the image. This process is quickly and automatically repeated two more times for triangulation and then you’re ready to view any of the 4000 objects in the telescope’s database. There’s even a cool Sky Tour option to use if you don’t know exactly what you want to observe.
The Celestron SkyProdigy 90 will take you on a high-power tour of the cosmos. The fully computerized and auto-aligning SkyProdigy single-arm altazimuth mount supports a 90mm aperture Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope which has a nice, long 1250mm focal length (f/13.9) which is ideal for obtaining high-magnification views of the night sky. The telescope is coupled to the mount via a quick-release system for easy attachment. The tripod and accessory tray can be conveniently assembled in the field without the need for tools. Two fully coated 1.25” eyepieces are included (25mm and 9mm) for two magnification options (50x and 139x respectively) right out of the box. Surprisingly lightweight at just 16 lbs., the Celestron SkyProdigy 90 can be transported easily to a dark sky site for the best views of the 4000 objects in its computerized database.
The fully computerized Celestron SkyProdigy hand controller is Flash upgradeable, and allows you to select from nine slew speeds (3°/sec, 2°/sec, 1°/sec, 0.5°/sec, 32x, 16x, 8x, 4x and 2x). The auto-aligning altazimuth mount also boasts sidereal, solar, and lunar tracking rates for extended views of virtually any object. A battery pack is included which provides over 30 hours of operation.
