The Great Orion Nebula. This is my favorite object to image and to study at the eyepiece. No other object in the night sky catches my interest (other than Saturn) as much as M42! There is so much detail and mystery with M42 that it will keep you busy for awhile. It's not just a beautyful sight...but a place of creation! A place where stars are born and perhaps evidence of "proto planets" has been discovered? Could this be a window to the past? Perhaps this is how our home, our star, our solar system was born. When you realize what you are viewing at the eyepiece or using a camra watching the image build on a screen, The Great Orion Nebula lets us all know how small we really are in this universe. Clear Skies!
