The attractive silver telescope holds an 8" (203mm) diameter parabolic primary mirror mounted in a rugged, cast-aluminum support cell. The 1200mm focal length (f/5.9) XT8 mirror provides clear and crisp views of night sky targets at moderate to high magnifications. Enhanced-reflectivity mirror coatings boost the 40th Anniversary XT8 Dobsonian's mirror to 94% reflectivity, transmitting as much light as possible to the eyepiece for nice, bright views.

The limited-edition, 40th Anniversary XT8 Dob comes with a great assortment of extra accessories compared to its XT8 Classic counterpart. 25mm, 17mm, and 10mm Sirius Plössl eyepieces and a Shorty 2x Barlow lens provide six different viewing magnifications to enjoy right out of the box. The 25mm eyepiece provides 48x views, while the 17mm ocular yields 70.5x, and the 10mm raises magnification to 120x. With the Shorty 2x Barlow, the included oculars provide 96x, 141x, and 240x views, respectively. Use the EZ Finder II reflex sight to easily aim the limited-edition XT8. An included MoonMap 260 makes it easy to identify interesting lunar features you can explore with the telescope. A quick collimation cap is also included to help with periodic optical alignment adjustments.

Like our immensely popular XT8 Classic Dob, this limited-edition XT8 telescope tube attaches to its low-profile Dobsonian base via the Orion CorrecTension Friction Optimization system, which utilizes heavy-duty springs to both securely couple the tube to the base, and keep the telescope in constant balance to avoid drifting during observations.

The telescope's 2" Crayford focuser comes with a removable 1.25" adapter to accept both 1.25" and 2" eyepieces and accessories. The focuser's Crayford design ensures focus adjustments are smooth, accurate, and delightfully free of backlash.
