    This image of Comet Gerradd was taken after the comet had rounded the Sun and passed Earth, heading back to the outermost reaches of the Solar System. At this point in its journey around the sun, the comet was moving across the night sky so fast that anything longer than a 3-minute exposure resulted in the appearance of a "green streak".  The bright star in this photo is Talitha, the "front paw" of the Great Bear, Ursa Major.
