Sharing the Views

I currently own the following equipment from Orion:

  • 8in SkyQuest Dob
  • Orion Steadyshot camera mount
  • Astrophotography startup kit (motorized mount)

I live in a small town near two cities which makes light pollution a problem. However, I still have managed the following photos.

When I go out, I typically invite co-workers and their kids. I like to share with them the views of Jupiter and Saturn that I get through the Dob. The Orion Nebula is a must-see as well. M31 is always pleasing to behold, as is Barnards and the Cigar Galaxies, which both show up in the same field of view, side by side.

I know that I wont be able to compete so much with the budget that I am on. These shots were done with both an Olympus FE20 on the SteadyShot, and a Cannon DSLR on a home made T-adapter.

At some point in the near future I plan to enroll in some classes at STCC. I'm looking to do work in the Astronomy Sciences. The equipment I own plus any future purchases would be for this endeavor.

In any event, enjoy the photos

Sincerely
James L.
