Learn More About the EON 80 mm ED Refractor Bundle

Is the Orion EON 80 mm Refractor Bundle Right for You?

The Orion EON 80 mm ED Doublet Refractor Bundle is best for observers and imagers who want clean optical performance, better color correction, and a telescope they can grow with. It is especially useful for amateur astronomers who already know their observing style: quick backyard sessions, family learning, portable travel use, visual deep-sky observing, or imaging with a more deliberate setup. The Orion EON 80 mm ED Refractor is not the right choice if you are looking for automatic object finding, large aperture, or long-exposure imaging capability.

What You'll See and Why It Works

This EON ED Refractor is designed for sharp lunar views, star clusters, double stars, brighter deep-sky targets, and great images when paired with the included 0.8x reducer. The 80 mm (3.15") aperture, 560 mm focal length, and f/7 focal ratio enable the refractor telescope to deliver great views of a variety of different celestial objects, ultimately opening up the possibility for vast imaging and visual night sky exploration. Not only are you able to see a variety of objects, but the air-spaced ED doublet design aids in crisp views and color correction.

What You Should Know Before You Buy

Is the Orion EON 80 mm ED Doublet Refractor Bundle good for beginners?

Yes. This EON 80 mm ED Doublet Refractor bundle is a great choice for beginners looking to get crisp, color corrected views of the Moon, star clusters, double stars, and other bright deep sky objects. The included 0.8x reducer also increases the versatility of this telescope by enabling astrophotography functionality in addition to visual use.

Does it find objects automatically?

No. The EON 80 mm Refractor is an optical tube and does not include a mount, manual or computerized. A user-supplied mount may allow for automatic tracking when paired with this optical tube assembly.

Can I take pictures with it?

Yes. This EON refractor bundle comes with a dedicated 0.8x focal reducer that allows the refractor telescope to be used for astrophotography as well as visual use.

What should I buy with it first?

Common helpful upgrades include a mount, an eyepiece, Moon filter, and camera adapters for imaging.

Setup, Care, and Support

Refractors are generally low maintenance. Pair the optical tube with a steady mount, keep the lens capped when stored, and let the telescope acclimate before judging fine detail.
